2nd Edition progress?
2nd Edition progress?
Well it has been four years since I last played with VBAM, I am currently using Colonial Battlefleet as my Spaceship combat system of choice and I was pleased to see mention of VBAM over on their message board as a possible campaign system and that playtesters might be needed.
Given that I wondered as to a possible release date for 2nd Edition?
In addition I wondered if the people responsible for working with Colonial Battlefleet and VBAM needed any playtesters as we have an active group for Colonial Battlefleet.

It does feel like it's getting closer. I'm starting to look for weekends I can schedule out to get some coding done on the play-aid

Re: 2nd Edition progress?
The goal right now is still to have 2e out by June 30th and the new website up by the July 4th holiday. The nice thing is that we have some big announcements to follow the release. While Tyrel was polishing up 2e we were able to get a lot more work done on the side projects to support it.
So yes, we will definitely need some more playtesters, especially on some very specific projects in the pipeline.
All the best,
Jay

The timeline there is flipped, but we should have something to announce by Saturday, and then more news next week.
And there is going to be news.
And there is going to be news.

Re: 2nd Edition progress?
Really my only question is when can I hand over some cash and get a PDF ?
A date for that moment would be worth knowing

Brennall, the announcement of when and where and how much will be out tomorrow after the new web site launches. Then all will begin to be made clear.

Should ask the question since, it will be asked, but any estimation of a release-date for the printed version of 2e?

Re: 2nd Edition progress?
I want to hold off doing a print edition of the book until we have a chance to iron out any leftover rules snags or typos that might have survived to the end product. I'm sure there's going to be something obvious that we missed along the way. After about a month "out in the wild" we can get that errata incorporated into the PDF version and then get the print book in production.
On my end, as soon as we release I'm going to order a print-on-demand proof to begin the process of checking for any other problems on that end. That way if I have to order two or three proofs to fix things I can get that done before everything is said and done.
We may be able to take pre-orders for the print version on our web site when the product goes live next week. I'll test that out and make sure there aren't any unforeseen complications, but tentatively I plan on giving people that option.

Yes, we plan on releasing it on all of the major download sites where we've had our products before. The book will be available on DriveThru at the same time it goes live here. For some of the others, it may take until after the Fourth of July weekend depending on how long it takes for them to manually add our product to their catalog.

Yeah I just had a look on DriveThru RPG and wasn't able to find it. Mind you it's only 1430 PDT. I don't know when the owner of that site usually updates his catalogue.
Checked DriveThru, RPGNow, lulu.com and Warehouse 23.
Will give another look tonight.
