Slow Weekend

Post by Tyrel Lohr »

It's strange to have such a slow weekend around here and on the YahooGroup. It's like everyone has disappeared! It's a ghost town!

Now I have to go summon a Shoggoth to be my friend... :?

Now we have a lot of lurkers and no one logging in and posting -- madness, madness I say! My Shoggoth's tentacles ARE wandering, and I am just too tired to tell it 'no'. What has happened to me!

Iä! Iä! Cthulhu Ftagn! Iä! Iä! Cthulhu Ftagn! Tekeli! Tekeli!

ARGH!

I just want to submit Chyll's above comment as the singlemost distrubing and downright funny statement I've read on this forum, and possibly any other forum to date.

  8)

Yes. I must concur.
You obviously don't read the same boards I do.

Hrmmm,

VBAM: Call of Cthulhu,

Now there's an idea with some (somewhat scary) merit...

New starship stat: Sanity? Refreshed by R&R. Ship crews go nuts when they encounter a great old one in hyperspace?

<edit> Not sure you'd want to trigger any of the NPEs... and Diplomacy might be tricky ;)

Could this be the only VBAM supplement in which getting a tech year advance results in most of your scientists killing themselves (or each other) when they realise what they have discovered?

Certainly the only supplement in which ideally your tech year won't advance at all...

I think a VBAM: Cthulhu book would probably replace tech advancement with "The Stars are Right", with extra investment ending up in the pool unless you do something to countermand it.

Actually, all joking aside, I could almost see a VBAM-esque Cthulhu game being kind of fun so long as the scale was ratcheted way down. You would have your team of investigators (analogous to your ship or ground units in VBAM) which would be committed to missions, rolled up on some sort of a Plot table. You could then have a tile system similar to that from Avalon Hill's OOP Betrayal at House on the Hill, with a different tile set for each type of environment. So you might be sent off to Antarctica for the next clue, but to get there you have to take a boat -- so you have a Plot Scenario aboard the Boat, possibly, and then another in Antarctica when you get there. If you are successful, your investigators won't die and you might find a clue in order to reduce the Stars are Right track. Reduce it to zero and you have averted disaster; if it hits some arbitrary value, the Ancient One arises and the world is destroyed!

Now we've had six people stop on by and read and leave. I must craft new content! VBAM: Pastels Edition! That will please our readers!

Won't you at least let me show you the stats for Sea Foam Green?

Happiness: 5, Fullfilment: 7, Splendor: 2, Generosity: 4

See, isn't that compelling? Who will end the happiest? Or the best decorated?
