Traveller to VBAM/CSCR

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had done any work on a 'conversion' guideline for using one or another flavor of traveller for building ships for VBAM/CSCR? The sort of thing I'm looking for is guidelines or formulas for generating CSCR stats for a given traveller ship and for converting the build and maintence costs of a traveller ship to EP. I've got some ideas on doing this, but before I go in and try crunching numbers I was curious if anyone else had done it and if so what they had come up with.

You might like to check out this thread on the mj12 site.

The thread has Traveller ships done for Starmada but also includes VBAM stats for them.
I cannot vouch for accuracy as I do not know Traveller ships but it should give you a start.

I don't have any real knowledge of the Traveller system beyond playing with some old character generators from back in the Windows 3.1 era. I was always fascinated by the system, but never knew where to begin trying to tracking down a version of the rules. What's considered a good entry point into the rules?
I know that Mongoose has the license currently, but I haven't heard that much one way or another about how they've been handling it. They have an absolutely horrible track record with all of their properties that I have heard about, so I've been reluctant to buy any of them if the older versions are better.

I'm a pretty casual Traveller player myself. Given the ~9 versions of the game and passion which a lot of traveller players put into their particular favorite flavor, you'd probably get a lot of different answers as to which is best. Mongoose Traveller is basically an update of Classic (v1) Traveller and seems to have done a decent job of things so far. There are issues with the system, but that could be said of any system. I personally prefer GURPS Traveller because all the pieces seem to hang together a little better and the level of detail appeals to the techie in me, but a lot of people don't care for the underlying system.
For more information here are a couple sites/blog posts/forum threads that compare the versions (some more friendly to the uninformed than others):

I'll track down the Mongoose Traveller core book then and take a look at it and see what they've done with the system. Like I said, my only real interaction with the Traveller system is generating a bunch of character sheets way back in the day for fun. Every once in awhile I still go back and look at those sheets to mine ideas and concepts for rules ideas, specifically relating to elite officer rules.
