Starmada X stats for VBAM CG scenario races?

Post by Blustar »

1. Does anyone have the races from the VBAM CG beginner scenarios statted out in Starmada X format? ( Brindaki, Senorians, etc...)

2. Can I use one of the Xls/xlt sheets to do automatically? Like can I input the CRCS numbers and will it spit out a Starmada ship for me?

Unfortunately I have a very outdated form of Excel on my home computer so I won't be able to check this out til I get back to work next week.

Are most people updated to Starmada AE?

thanks

I'm not familiar with Starmada, but...

You're asking for an automated system that converts from a reduced data format to a more detailed system (i.e.: you want to generate more detail about the ships),

And I would think that that would be next to impossible,

Going the other way mind should be pretty easy (stripping away detail and reducing data is a simple task, and can often be automated),

You'd have to work from the data provided and your "idea" about the race and its priorities along with the conversion system (from the VBAM Starmada book presumably) to produce vessels that fit the stats and your ideas,

Yeah, after reading a bit more of VBAM: StarmadaX edition it started to dawn on me that going from simple to detailed has way to many variables.

Really, I didn't realize that Starmada really changed the strategic game significantly as you are expected to build your own ships(which is cool) but since I'm a newbie I wanted to ease my way in. So, tech is way cooler but also ay more involved.

I think I'll try and run some basic scenarios with VBAM, then maybe fight a few battles with Starmada and keep the tech simple and use the source lists in Kuissians Boltians War book. That way I already have some VBAM to Starmada conversions.

Thanks for your help

I have not seen the CG races in starmada form. Tou may be able to get close using the Starmada examples in the VBAM:The Starmada Edition & Stars Divided, Terran Civil War. These are of course for Starmada X.

The core rule book for Starmada AE has a couple of pages on converting Starmada X ships to the new format.
In the Yahoo group files I have a shipyard guide, which has a page on the Starmada AE requirements for VBAM ship Campaign abilities. I wrote this to go with The Shipyard (for constructing Starmada ships) which also has VBAM stats on the copy and paste (starmada sheet) page. You may find this useful.

Open Office calc will open most spreadsheets and is free from Openoffice.org (version 2.4 is better than version 3.0 for excel sheets.) I believe it takes 240Mb of disk space.
