Interested in web tool feedback.

All- Been making tremendous strides lately with the latest incarnation of the web tool. Some things I'd like to think about, and I would be interested in your feedback. Currently, I have code for the star map (that most of you have already seen in the previous playtest), Galaxy creation/destruction,...

Star Names

Anyone have a good source, preferably a list, of star names? I have the auto generation for a series of stars set up. (although I could use an updated planet creation ruleset.) But I get kind of tired of all of the systems saying "test". What I would like is a list from which I can grab sy...

Re: How is the playtest going?

I have been building one, to be honest. That was the part I always had some ideas around.

Although I'm strictly a hobbyist, so banging around some of those ideas is something I look forward to. :)

Re: How is the playtest going?

It occurs to me as I fiddle with some of this code this weekend, that I should treat the individual ships kind of like characters in the story. Complete with things like battle stars for battles they participated in and eventually maybe even conditions that are unique to the ship. Sort of like a &qu...

Re: How is the playtest going?

And actually on that topic. I took the subscription to Azure this morning, so I'll re-deploy the play aid either late this evening or late tomorrow evening. I haven't had much time to make any changes, as I've been getting settled in my new job. But hopefully soon as the weather gets cold here on th...

Re: How is the playtest going?

Also I think VBAM could benefit from a little bit of computerization. This would help facilitate online play much more. Like if there were simple tools for GMs and players to create and process turns and to track unit costs and so forth. Though it would of course depend upon someone with the comput...

Re: How is the playtest going?

I'm more inclined to think that we needed a better way to make sure we got our turns in. The two week cycle meant I was always not thinking about it. For a play test, I might suggest we go nightly and just suffer that sometimes we'll miss. We are play testing after all. :)

Re: Glorious Stars Play Aid Website - Alpha

Repositories are now making sense to me.

Built them out with my tactical ship stuff however, so I'll need to go back and refactor into our little play aid. But I understand how to now, so if I could get my legs underneath me at the new day job, I'd have some time to get it working for us.

Re: Glorious Stars Play Aid Website - Alpha

It's not really that much of an update. I'm struggling with repositories. Hair is awfully pointy. But tweaking someone else's good work into something on my site, that I still apparently understand. I think the planets will now spin for Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Not sure on IE. http://vbam2.azurew...

Re: Glorious Stars Play Aid Website - Alpha

This is a reminder to me to use this demo for my planet orbiting screen. Because it's awesome.

Wing Commander Fans...

And I know I'm not the only one of them around here. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/about-the-game If you're interested in getting in with a wider group of players, here's the post from the little web community I help manage. http://sih.onemadogre.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=33382&title=star-cit...

Re: Glorious Stars Turn 1 Assembly Debates

House Kestrel is happy to support the first two of these draft laws immediately, and will spend more time in a thoughtful review of the third.

Re: Glorious Stars Play Aid Website - Alpha

Going to slow down publishes for a bit. I've decided I've learned enough MVC to want to figure out how to use a repository layer. I'm going to be refactoring to that. An added benefit of that work should be that I'll have the code arrayed for playtest, and I can run multiple play tests at that point.
