Mommy and patient come home this morning. I pity the wife as she gets to soak her Ph.D. brain in children's programming for the rest of the week. I assured her that she could have a promising career in food service after her brain turns to mush. :P Well, there are solutions for that. Run out and bu...

Modular Ability Design
Mark brought this up in another thread, but given that it applies to the Star Trek tugs like the Ptolemy it applies to some of what I have going on in my test campaign. For ships that should be able to switch out their abilities, how should it work? From a design perspective, I am thinking that the ...

I have set a hard deadline for the end of the month to get this book released. Here's to hoping I make that deadline!

I'm not sure making ground units much cheaper is a good thing. Consider the cost of the US fielding a few divisions in a pair of low-intensity conflicts. If the average ground unit cost 1/2 to maintain, then having 20 of them on a major world would cost 10 EP per turn to maintain. Now, if a portion...

I've had a peek at Star Charts and can say it is all I hoped it would be, I'll definitely be buying it the day it comes out. It has taken two years to get the product to the point that I think, a few tweaks and layout issues aside, it is ready to go. I just have to finish writing some new elements ...

I am about 2/3 of the way into creating a campaign that was based off information in both 'TLADIS' and 'aloft' (it's sad that they have simmered down for the time being). I am curious about the star chart book since you have been talking about it for a long time. Yeah, trying to get both Jay's MAS ...

Sounds good to me Tyrel. I like the idea of light infrantry contributing as well as heavy armor and artillery. Combined arms in military operations isn't going anywhere anytime soon even with newer weapons and technology. Under this system, you essentially end up with ground units having the follow...

Re: New VBAM Unit Traits
That is the next logical step, adding a ground combat system as detailed as the space one is. I have been playing around with that aspect to a certain degree. Steve's GSCR from the Companion goes a bit further than I would like, but I have been playing around with the concept of Army vs. Army comba...

Logistics Rating vs. Endurance
Two names enter, one name leaves. This is Thunderdome!
Which name do YOU prefer for the amount of shipboard stores a ship has that allows it to ignore the effects of a set level out of supply levels?

Re: New VBAM Unit Traits
I like this idea, because it seems stupid that a hull 20 assault vessel can only carry the same number as troops as a hull 5 assault vessel... The problem with Assault really came to a head for me when I was doing my FASA Star Trek conversions for a side project of mine. FASA gave troop numbers for...

I do not like the effect that basing capacity of true carriers will be reduced after receiving even minor damage (or that it is reduced at all). If you want to go down that route, I'd rather suggest that only some of their fighters can be present in any scenario instead of destroying these flights ...
