...at least as far as the forums are concerned!
When I setup the web forum, I also went and added posting ranks. I just passed the break point from Ensign to Lieutenant and it all still worked -- which means I probably set things up correctly.
Good for me!

Woohoo! I'm a much bigger fan of these type of forums than yahoo's. The new logo looks very sharp too. Thanks! This was my first attempt to re-skin a phpBB install. I think it turned out okay overall. The top buttons are a bit faded, but I like the transparency effect. As to web forums vs. mailing ...

Although not historically accurate, Pocket does sound much better 8) In Starmada X terms (for your campaign), I would say the Pocket trait would halve the number of Hull boxes a unit has (rounding fractions up). So a Hull 5 Pocket warships would have Hull 3 for purposes of SX. Alternatively, and thi...

Yeah, I can see some problems with the above system, but it will be interesting to see if it works out like I think it should. One major change will be that AS/AF 1 ships will never have a reduction in abilities as a result... but then, those barely armed freighters never have a chance in hell of do...

Modified Combat Factor Breakpoints
As currently written, only two breakpoints exist in the CSCR for reducing a unit's combat effectiveness: uncrippled and crippled. Before a ship is crippled, combat factors are at full strength, and once crippled they are halved (round down). Combat factors include AS, AF, BC (Basing Capacity), and a...

I am currently grinding through The Shiva Option , but still have 300 pages to go (oi!). I do think the best way to handle most of the Starfire weapon systems would be via special weapon packages. Primary beam packs for fighters would be Shield/Armor Piercing combo weapons, for example. For the capi...

That reminds me: after your created your Star Law ability, Emiricol, I went in and created a similar trait called Police which, when applied to a unit, doubles its EP for purposes of calculating military force sizes during raider checks. So a 3 EP Police FF would count as 6 EP of ships for raider ch...

New VBAM Unit Traits
In the interests of kicking off dicussion in this forum, how about discussing some of the new VBAM units traits that people have been using in their campaigns? I have to get my list together, but I know I have reworked some of the base traits as well as added some new ones in order to liven up campa...

"To Boldly Go..." Playtest Campaign
I thought I would kick on dicussion in this forum by mentioning that I have put "To Live and Die in Starlight" (TLADIS) on the back burner for awhile so that I could test some other aspects of the Star Charts rules -- and it is a good thing I did, because I discovered some things I needed ...

Look and Feel
How does everyone feel about the look and feel of the forums site here? Anything that looks really out of sorts or that you think should be changed? Or is the layout something people can live with? ...of course, I am assuming everyone actually defaulted to the non-standard DAJ Glass theme and not su...

Usually, when thinking about the distinction between missiles and torpedoes, I usually see them as thus: Missiles: Slower than torpedoes and with a typically lower yield, but with superior guidance systems. They also tend to have superior range vs. torpedoes. Torpedoes: Faster than torpedoes and hav...
