Finally got around to checking the shelves... I can recommend Execution Hour and Shadow Point, both by Gordon Rennie. They're set in the 40k-verse, but are focused on the Imperial fleet, and have some pretty good naval combat in them. Damn two I missed before I got interested in reading W40K books ...

My boo boo sorry Jay. Its actually my 1st mission for Fox Squadron in WW2... so no stand off missiles. Two Hurricanes vs 1 Lone Ba 27M Metallico +1 pilot Not rolled his NPO yet. I think even outnumbered 2 to 1 he's got a chance. Both Hurricane pilots are regulars. Mind you theres another 2 Hurricane...

Is it reasonable to assume that unless the are real good or have a good jet/plane any outnumbered bogey will attempt to bug out asap?

A 'relucant' NPO would do it any how, 'Chaos' maybe or not?

Has anyone thought of tactical doctrines.? For the menagerie or a tech research? For example Capital Ship doctrine. The race favours large warships. Carrier Doctrine (Like WC) Squadron Doctrine. (favour Small warship groups) etc. These would define what sort of ship a race would favour. To change wo...
