Too bad... I was hoping you guys would get it done in time for Origins. Especially with a new Trek movie out! The sales potential would have been awesome*.

* Well, you know, awesome for a niche strategy game market.

Thanks, Tyrel! Love hearing about the new system and your descriptions show the system will be somewhat complex but more satisfying.

Will there be an agricultural tech advance to make feeding the population easier? Soylent Green?

I continue to like what I see here.

This sounds like an excellent update. Maybe the old system was a good simulation of ground combat but I like the idea of the combat models being similar for both the ground and the naval combat.

I hope you had to look that up.
The actual sizes, yes; the fact that it is 100 diameters and that Earth is outside Sol's 100 diameter limit, no.

And then there is the granddaddy of space games - Traveller. Yet again, FTL only from the edges of the system. No, in Traveller you had to be 100 diameters from a gravity well. For Earth, that is roughly 1,275,620 kilometers, which is about 3-1/3 times the distance to the moon (385,000 km). That is...

I think the Starfire universe uses jump points but the jump points had to be far away from the star, on the edge of the system.

I love what I'm hearing about CSCR2 -- more cripples heading home for repairs, increased possibility of inconclusive battles. Sounds very good to me. I also like the sounds of the new engine rules/interstellar engine rules. It makes system defense ships more viable, too -- Your bad-ass BCs speed int...

Does this mean pseudo-fighters and their ilk will have separate rules (they aren't size 1, after all)? Or will they be really big fighters? Right now we're looking at small craft and ground units having their own 1-10 size scale. In the case of small craft, pseudo-fighters and heavy gunboats would ...

I think these would offer a different VBAM experience but I don't know that it captures what you are after: 1) In a 12-turn per year game, have economic phases occur every 3 months. Income could still be tripled but decision-making has a lag time this way. (I really like this idea, although I don't ...

Perhaps some time in a sanitarium will allow Charles to recover sufficiently to complete development? At least until the next SAN check.

I keep liking what I am hearing about the new edition. Huzzah!
