Re: Open Playtest
I THINK Jay you may have hit on a tipping point on scale detail. Not knowing the number of "expected ships" in a game, leaves you with a couple options.. 1) change the ship design model to allow two parameters when buying BASING.. number of fighters and max size of fighters. Because if all...

Re: Oddball build Question(s)
I THINK it depends on the scale expected for the game. tracking .5 cargo when you have ten or fewer ships is one thing.. doing for one hundred ships.. Also what happens when one of the four ships is destroyed, is the "cargo unit" destroyed ? (or does it take two of the four ?) .. I would s...

Re: Siming hyperdrives and other non nodal movement FTLs
In cases where FTL is instantaneous, The paradigm might be fleets would be stationed at core places, ready for FLT jump. At all important systems, one would have courier ships, when a system is attacked, the courier ships would "hyper" to defense nodes and summon help.. So in a game, playe...

Re: Siming hyperdrives and other non nodal movement FTLs
I am assuming you are responding to my post.. #1) the scenario is a massive klingon fleet is headed to earth.. Star Trek Sub-Space communication was faster than FTL.. so I am ASSUMING that a fleet would be detected by border outposts.. those outposts would sound the alarm and the alarm would move at...

Re: Warp Drives and decapitation
Since ships in warp do not "instantaneously" move from one point to another and they can be detected while in transit. So in a ST universe the Federation would see the massive Klingon Fleet coming in time to concentrate a fleet and move the intercepting fleet with the invader until the inv...

Re: Help with alternate history 1936-1960
I think your way is not unreasonable (and probably LIKELY).. But I think the other way is also plausible (though less likely) Without US aid, and Germany in control of Gilbraltar, Germany/Italy could be a very tough place to take.. Because GB with out the US is not a threat.. Also if the BEF is not ...

Re: Help with alternate history 1936-1960
I think these would make the war too unwinnable for Germany early on, fighting against both Britain and Russia without the extra year of military build up. I am not so sure.. remember Russia would way extended.. attacking an unbroken German army.. the result might be closer to WWI where the Russian...

Re: Help with alternate history 1936-1960
So what about France wants to get involved in SCW, suffers a couple of set backs and then Germany to protect their Spanish proxies attack France in a surprise attack. France falls quickly. German troops then begin to liberate their Spanish proxies, Britian seeing disaster if Germany gains Spain, lan...

Re: Help with alternate history 1936-1960
Option for the start..
Assume SCW drags on, but Britain and France go to war with Germany over Czech division ?
or Britian and France go to war over the re-militarization of the Ruhr.

Re: Help with alternate history 1936-1960
Would the British navy be able to project power in the Med with Gibraltar in German hands..
There would be no friendly air cover in the western Med, and if Malta falls, non in the Central med.. Allowing the Axis to focus on the Eastern Med. So the Italian supply should be safer than historical..

Re: Tech Level Economic Bonuses
Generally the economic bonus is indirect..
ships of higher tech and same capability are generally smaller and cheaper..
i.e. low tech BB equals high tech DD in combat but the DD will be cheaper to build and maintain.

Re: Using VBAM for an Honorverse-type Setting
I guess it is what you want to play.. Looking at a war from the point of view of the First Lord/First Space Lord of Manticore, (which is where I thought you were) do the CAs have a real bearing on the war ? Is he/she aware of where those escorts are ? The books are not written fully from any one poi...

In that case.. just ignore the escorts.. If they bring that little to the table.
Just go with the Capital ships..
