Re: Playtest Rules Notes
On the other hand, since stealthed units have no need for PD, it's a neat way to screw over an enemy that's invested heavily in PD. Just don't install any PD in your stealth ships, and when you make a stealthed attack, you'll have a comparative advantage against the poor fellow who's bought a lot.

Re: VBAM 2E Playtest Files (Was: Any Updates?)
It would be too powerful if it transported CCxJump count of other ships. Myself, I can't really see the reason for differentiating between Jump and Tow.

Re: Expanded System Resources
The industry stat could be Cap. Do you have the space and resources to build massive industrial complexes. Alternately, you could set it at the higher of RAW and BIO. You either need access to a friendly environment that reduces costs, or have the raw resources right at hand.

Re: War Scores and ER
I wonder if War Score could be on a continuum. War score starts at 0, which would represent the status quo, and then gets shifted depending on victories and losses. Winning high intensity battles, invading and bombarding planets, killing population, and such, would modify war score. War exhaustion w...

Re: War Scores and ER
It's not actually any different than the War Score, which is described in the 20120531 playtest file on page 65, just adding a few extra modifiers and giving it some teeth. Currently, your War Score is (BPs of Hostile Units Killed - BPs of Friendly Units Killed - (Friendly Census Killed x 30) - (Fri...

Yeah, there are some problems with it at present. I came up with some suggestions in another thread.

Re: 2nd Edition Playtest Report- Terran Commonwealth
They could go into the system, blow up all the orbitals, glass all the terrestrial units, and then demand vassalization.

War Scores and ER
I really like where you're going with the War Score - I had been thinking about suggesting just such an idea! A few thoughts: I think the score system might over-emphasise the morale breaking effects of killing units. It is also relative both to Economy and your opponent's losses... which means that...

Re: 2nd Edition Playtest Report- Terran Commonwealth
I'm currently treating supply depots as a system to distribute supply that already exists - if a system is within range of a depot, it contributes supply to the depot, which redistributes it to far-flung fleets. Huh. I really like that approach; I shall adopt it! I'm glad! I thought it was the best...

Re: 2E Playtest: Universal Aquisitions
I've been designing units for the new aliens I've encountered A few things I've discovered. 1 - Stealth is ridiculously good for small vessels, those at 1/2 CC. The Sneak Attack ability means that it's actually as cheap to buff a ship's AS with stealth as it is to buy AS. Maybe the bonus should be h...

Re: 2nd Edition Playtest Report- Terran Commonwealth
"A second point is you a system can only support CCs equal to its Industry x census, putting a cap on the number of units you can build. But that's if the system is supplying ships locally, not if the ships are being supplied via a supply depot, correct? -Will At present that is unclear to me....

Re: Consult the Book of Armaments
Not sure I'm getting the point of Armour. I can't imagine any situation where it wouldn't be better to double your DV rather than increase your formation level.
