A bit of everything,

I like the simplicity of the Commander and Captain systems, and for multi-system games with more than a couple of systems I'd almost always go with them,

For a single-system game or perhaps a game set over two or three systems I would stage the game up a few levels and probably go with the Admiral level stuff,

Played one campaign with the commodore system generation ruleset, but not good for exploration campaigns, I tend to find. Typically I use the basic rules in the CG but with the specials from the CMC so I can have splinter colonies.

Captain here.

I love the idea of the more detail systems, but recognize they'd either slow down (read: frustrate me) solo or just don't fit in the one large campaign I have run with players.
