Insert Suitably Witty Campaign Name Here

Post by murtalianconfederacy »

I've had a couple of campaigns done since I last posted a campaign diary. One, entitled The Juggernaut Cometh, ended with one massive power, the HVKSC having an income of around 5-600 EP, which was close to 45% of the total income of all powers. Another, short-lived campaign with Commodore-level system generation followed, which lasted less than a campaign year as I generated two powers, the Murtalians and Avtarians, who immediately generated two splinter colonies on the first turn, the Furian Alliance and Mistula Free Union. The MFU and AI went to war, then the Murtalians discovered Mistula and fought the MFU, then the Avtarians, Murtalians/Furians (who had a relationship and treaty offering so high they hit it and got to Alliance levels two turns after generation) and Mistula had a massive three-way battle, which the Murtalians won, forced the Mistula into neutrality and then defeated a scratch fleet centred around existing and new Avtarian construction, then entered Avtaria and smashed the homeworld defences, at which point a rebellion in the outer Avtara system occured, just before the Murtalians accepted an armistice from the remaining planets of the Avtarian Imperium...

Phew. :D

This campaign, by contrast, has been much quieter (I will be posting campaign diaries up as soon as I've finished generating a power). It concerns the adventures of the New Wessex Alliance, an INT-2 level power which, at the start of play, had a peacetime income of 88, a trade income of 15 and a maintenance budget of 92, reduced to 88 by the Military Meritocracy (Negative Social) government.

3000.01

The exploration squadron fails to explore from New Exmoor. No raids occur.

3000.02

The exploration squadron fails to explore from New Exmoor. No raids occur.

3000.03

Success! The exploration squadron manages to explore a new system, a Colony world with a RAW value of 6. There are also 5 lanes to explore. To the inhabitants of New Camelot, this is good news, as their colony has a large unemployment problem (4 census over productivity)

No raids occur

3000.04

The Transport Fleet moves to New Camelot.

The exploration squadron encounters the New Hellenic Republic, a splinter colony. Relations are amicable and Normal Relations are entered into.

3000.05

The exploration squadron moves back to the colony system discovered two months ago.

3000.06

The NWA authorises the construction of 2 Wurzels and attendant fighters to bolster the protection of the trade fleet.

The exploration squadron encounters the United Agreatian Duchies, an INT-1 power

Yeah, haven't been doing much with regards to writing up campaign diaries--but am trying to get back into the saddle, so to speak.

Am just about done generating the UAD

The file is up at the VBAM Yahoo! Group, under Campaign Reports.

Have generated two more turns so far.

3000.06 continued

The NWA exploration squadron and the UAD forces in-system didn't make a very good impression, but the NWA squadron left without incident. However, both sides place each other in a state of non-intercourse (the state of affairs assumed if they roll for hostilities but fail it. Strictly speaking, both had an offering chance barely positive (1%) so should have had normal relations--however, as the UAD had a 53% chance of declaring hostilities, and the NWA a 27% chance, it seemed likely both sides would simply say "We're not talking to you! Lalalala, can't hear you!")

3000.07

The NWA exploration squadron returns to #30. The UAD fails either of it's exploration rolls.

3000.08

The NWA diplomatic corps is busy, after relations with the NHR improve even more. The NWA and NHR sign treaties up to peace treaty automatically (110% chance of acceptance for peace treaty).

However, the NWA succeeds in its attempts to declare hostilities against the UAD, and this is made clear by a unmanned diplomatic courier jumping into Servalki, the contact system, and letting the UAD know of the change in status.

The respective militaries already knew of this possibility, it seems, the NWA moving 1st Fleet to #30 and the UAD moving its fleet into Servalki.

The NWA squadron discovers another new system from #30, a colony system with a RAW of 6. There is also interesting news for the astronomy experts--an asteroid field is in the system.

The UAD exploration squadron operating out of Servalki also discovers a new system, but this is a minor outpost that is only mildly interesting due to its five jump lanes. For the Dukes of Agreatul, this is important news due to the low number of jump lanes in the rest of their territory.

(CM Notes: At the moment, I'm assuming that the conflict between the NWA and UAD will turn the NWA way. The NWA has double the UAD TDP and has a main fleet to match, with a core of Alfred the Great BBs backed up with carriers and cruisers. The UAD, OTOH, has just six Ghorans as its main fleet. Luckily, they do have several Irahan light cruisers to back them up, but not nearly enough.

The only thing going for the UAD is the distance between Agreatul and New Exmoor--3 jumps. That means that the only system within striking range of the NWA is Servalki, which is the least valuable UAD system. Sure, losing a 12EP system would hurt, but it could work for the UAD. One jump from Agreatul, on a war footing, constructing as many Ghorans it can to overwhelm the NWA BBs and CLs, could mean a long conflict. Assuming the UAD don't cave in and ask for an armistice and the NWA accepts it.

As CM, I'd like to see the NHR involved as well, to give them a bit of a move towards being a minor regional power, but I don't think they will, and they're not really needed either. Their vessels aren't as powerful as the NWA or UAD, and they're set up for defensive duties with their 'torpedo gunboats' in the guise of extended operation heavy assault fighters. Assuming the offence against a superior foe? Unless the UAD gets lucky and catches the NWA fleet in a disastrous readiness state, that won't happen, and if it does happen, the chances are the wars going really badly)

3000.09

The UAD activates the units in reserve, and its maintenance jumps up to 55, which is modified to 53 by its government type.

The NWA offers a MDT to the NHR, which is accepted.

Both the NWA and UAD attempt a declaration of war. The UAD fails, but the NWA succeeds, and informs the UAD when NWA 1st Fleet jumps into Servalki...

BATTLE OF SERVALKI

The NWA has two Severns and three Longbows in the flag squadron. In the front line is one scout squadron (three Taunton SCL), two assault squadrons (two Alfred the Greats and three Excaliburs each), two carrier squadrons (four Wurzels each) and four cruiser squadrons (three Excaliburs each). There are 72 North Petherton fighter squadrons. The NWA fleet has a total AS of 339, and a surprise modifier of Good (+1)

The UAD has fielded all UAD units in-system, including the UAD exploration squadron that returned home just before the NWA jumped in. All told, the UAD has one Ghorav and three Irahavs forming the flag squadron, two battle squadrons of three Ghorans, one scout squadron of three Irahaks, one exploration squadron of two Irahaqs and three Ayirans, and the defence squadron of three Irahans. There are only 24 Ihan fighter squadrons. The UAD has a total AS of 167, but a readiness modifier of Bad (-2)

The battle was scheduled to run for 5 turns (NWA-2, UAD-1, d6-2)

The NWA fleet formed into the perfect formation and let loose with all weapons. Amazingly, the UAD fleet was destroyed in the first pass (6 rolled, with the modifiers taken into account the NWA caused 237 damage to the UAD fleet, reduced by 9 for the fleet support provided to 228. The entire UAD fleet only had 222 damage it could take)

The UAD fire was woeful, not scoring a single hit in return (2 rolled, modified by the -2 to 0)

Half of the UAD fighter force swooped in on the scouts, but accurate AF fire from the scouts and 12 flights of NPs destroyed them before they could target the scouts.

Two dogfights took place around the wreckage of two UAD squadrons (the scout squadron and the exploration squadron) where 6 Ihans in each faced off against five times their numbers in North Pethertons. The NPs destroyed the Ihans, but lost a flight each.

Result of Battle: NWA victory, losing 2 flights of fighters in the process.

The NWA constructed two new transport fleets, for the purposes of transporting more marines and potential supply depot.

Servalki failed its 'cut off from homeworld' morale check, and had its Morale reduced by 2. It passed its 'hostile forces seized system' check, however. Servalki is now in Unrest.

3000.10

The UAD constructed four Kolralats in Novi Agreatul to free the Irahans stationed there for defensive work in Agreatul. It also constructed three Ghorans and three Irahans, plus attendent fighters

(Note, somehow, when calc'ing their maintenance, I missed out the Kolralats. This was a major issue as the next two turns the UAD used all their income to purchase new units, and I only discovered I'd calc'd the maintenance wrong after 3000.12 [with the Battle of Agreatul]. I decided to make a little story up which you'll see later)

The NWA linked from #30 to New Lundy. This is excellent news for New Lundy, too, as now they're one jump from #30, which is planned to be the next colonisation effort after the Agreatian War.

NWA Transport fleet 1 (the starting one) makes transit to Servalki. As this happens, 1st Fleet, except for the assault squadrons, begins an anti-troop bombardment of Servalki, hoping to destroy the four Duchy Guard units there. With a total of 159 BPs, the Duchy Guard units are destroyed.

Transport fleet 2 (which was formed in New Wessex) embarks two marine units. With the two marine units in Servalki, that means four marine units are ready for the invasion of the UAD. The NWA constructs a supply depot at New Exmoor (with Transport fleet 3) and two NPs to replace the ones lost at Servalki.

The UAD requests an armistice, which is refused.

Servalki fails its Loyalty Check, and its Morale is reduced to 0. As the ground units have been destroyed, there is nothing to stop Servalki going into secession, and a new power, the Duchy of Servalki, is born.

3000.11

The UAD constructs all the vessels it can with limited funds--two Ghoravs, 4 Irahals and attendent fighters. It also requests an armistice from the NWA, but is refused.

The DS's first point of business is also to request an armistice, which is accepted. Servalki will become a supply point for the NWA, and in exchange will receive defence units. Once the Agreatian War is over, the DS will join its former owners in becoming protectorates of the NWA. Seeing as this is fairly reasonable, and they have no way to defend themselves, the DS agrees.

The NWA constructs 8 Lundy corvettes for defence of the transport fleets.

TF2 (with marines) arrives in Servalki.

The NWA encounters another NPE exploring from New Lundy, an IND-2/3 power called the Ravian Union (IND-3 rolled, 0 rolled for progress to INT-1, so 0% completed)

The RU and NWA gets along fairly well, and normal relations are entered into.

3000.12

With the securing of supply in Servalki, the NWA moves into Agreatul, where it encounters the new construction of the previous two turns and this turn (2 Irahals and 6 Ayirans) in addition to the six Irahans that formed the defence squadrons of Agreatul and Novi Agreatul.

The NWA fleet is the same as at Servalki, and this time has a Good readiness modifier. The UAD, however, has a Disastrous readiness modifier. The UAD fleet, in entirety, has 2 Ghoravs, 3 Ghorans, 9 Irahans, 6 Irahals, 6 Ayirans and 3 Ayirafs (three squadrons of one Ghoran and three Irahans each, three squadrons of two Irahals, two Ayirans and one Ayiraf)

The battle length was 9 turns (NWA-2, UAD-1, d6-6)

In turn 1, the NWA carved its way through the UAD battlelines, having achieved near-total surprise. In the initial pass, all but the Ghoravs and three Irahals survived, and one Irahal was crippled (rolled 5, which when slotted into the AS damage, caused 203 damage). The UAD, by contrast, might as well have been firing blanks (rolled 1!)

The NWA fighters, all tasked to deal with the Ghoravs, swept in and destroyed both cruisers (2 rolled, modified with the +1 to equal 86 points of damage done to the cruisers, which could only take 32 damage in total). The UAD fighters, however, managed to get through the fire of the flag and scout squadron with 13 and 18 squadrons remaining, but suffered the same fate as their cousins onboard ships (rolls cancelled by the disastrous readiness modifier)

Turn 2 saw the destruction of the remaining UAD ships, and although the return fire was slightly closer, no ships were hit (1 damage was rolled for, but was negated by the 6 points of fleet support put out by the Taunton)The UAD fighters went after the scouts this turn, but 25 were destroyed by AF fire and the 36 NPs protecting them, and the six remaining squadrons that got through failed to do any damage.

Turn 3 resulted in the destruction of the last six UAD fighter flights.

Result of Battle: NWA victory, no damage done whatsoever.

In the aftermath of the battle, Novi Agreatul was informed that its citizens could no longer finance the maintenance of the Kolralats in orbit, and would have to be paid for by the government.

Agreatul failed its 'hostile forces' check but passed its 'homeworld attacked' check, and its morale dropped by 6. Novi Agreatul failed its 'cut off' check and its 'homeworld attacked' check, and morale dropped by 4.

The NHR constructed 3 Basileus Georgios and 12 Vasilefs Georgios to reinforce the Hellenic Navy. This doubles the number of 'torpedo gunboats' in the NHR.

The UAD exploration squadron explored a new system, #59. It is a minor colony system, and might have been useful a turn before to evacuate Agreatul.

End of Year 3000.

Wessex, Dartmoor, Hellas and Agreatul passed its population checks. Morale at Hellas rose by one, as it did at Novi Agreatul (which prevented it from going into rebellion), but fell at Agreatul.

Agreatul failed its loyalty check, and Morale now stood at 1. Agreatul and Novi Agreatul were now both in Unrest, not a good situation to be in.

A terrorist attack happened in Servalki, where elements of society loyal to Agreatul tried to detonate a nuclear device. Luckily, it failed, and members of the organisation "Agreatians United Against the Enemy" were arrested.

Reduced solar flare activity in New Hellas has meant the formerly uninhabitable world of Hellas 1 is now habitable. (Cap +1)

A formerly undiscovered mineral deposit of enormous size has been discovered in New Wessex (RAW+2)

3001.01

The UAD requests an armistice again. This time, the NWA accepts.

The UAD is to become a NWA protectorate. Defensive elements standard to NWA worlds, including trade escorts, will be placed in UAD systems. In addition, 2 Regulars, 3 Light Infantry and 3 Peacekeepers will be raised in Agreatul, and the same forces sans the LI will be raised in Servalki and Novi Agreatul. In addition, an assault squadron is to be constructed for heavy defence of former UAD systems.

3001.02

In exchange for funds to improve industry by 50%, the NHR allows NWA construction of units for the UAD to take place in New Hellas (this is due to their having an alliance in place since 3000.10). The NHR with its funds improves productivity from 4 to 6 at New Hellas, and with this means that the recent construction can be maintained at active readiness, instead of being placed into reserve or even mothballed.

The NWA completes the construction of units for the UAD defences. These consist of 9 Wellingtons, 2 Wurzels, 4 Lundys, 2 Alfred the Greats and 3 Excaliburs, as well as ground units.

The NWA also improves productivity at New Wessex and New Dartmoor.

The supply depot is scrapped.

No exploration successes.

3001.03

The NWA now scraps all existing UAD units and disbands UAD ground units. Apart from this, 3001.03 is a quiet month, with only TF 1/2 disembarking their marines at New Exmoor, and TF 3 moving to New Lundy

3001.04

The NWA colonises #30, naming it New Quantock. 2 Census at New Camelot and 1 Census at New Lundy is embarked, ready to move to New Quantock.

The NWA constructs 3 Wellingtons for New Quantock's defence.

3001.05

The transport fleets arrive in-system, and disembark the 3 census. Four productivity is purchased at New Quantock, immediately turning New Quantock into a supply point and the fifth largest system in the NWA.

3001.06

TF1 and 3 returns to their respective systems (Camelot/Lundy) and picks up one more Census each. As they have funds available, they also purchase one productivity at New Camelot, turning it into a supply point too.

3001.07

TF1 and 3 returns to New Quantock and disembarks the census. Two productivity are purchased at NQ.

The NWA constructs one trade fleet and eight new Wurzels for the trade/transport fleet escorts, standardising the civilian fleet escorts. The trade routes will be altered to ensure all systems of the NWA are on a trade route.

(present time--just about to finish generating this turn)

3001.07 (cont)

The NWA exploration squadron failed its attempt this turn

3001.08

After much discussion about how to handle imperial defence, the NWA decides to utilise a three-tier system. Tier one consists of the standard defensive elements of each system. Tier two will be a pair of small fleets that can respond to minor difficulties such as a moderately sized splinter colony or a pre-hyper civilisation like the Ravian Union. These will consist of a flag squadron of three Longbows, an escort squadron of three Cullomptons, two light carrier/scout squadrons with one Charmouth and three Bidefords each, two cruiser squadrons with three Excaliburs and two frigate squadrons with three Wellingtons each.

Tier three will be the main battlefleet and consist of most of the units that fought in the Agreatian War, with some extra firepower. The two AtGs and three Excaliburs constructed for defence of the former UAD territories will be split up, the Excaliburs joining one of the light fleets and the AtGs assuming command of the scout squadron, which will also provide heavier firepower both offensively and defensively with regards to AF firepower. Another pair of AtGs will be constructed along with a pair of Dartmoor fleet carriers to add an extra 24 NPs to the fighter arm. Plus, four new County-class heavy cruisers will assume command duties of the four cruiser squadrons in 1st Fleet.

The only problem is that the construction of units will take at least four months. However, luckily the new vessels pass their prototyping (all new classes getting a '1' on the prototyping roll)

The exploration squadron sets off for Novi Agreatul. The NWA decides it would be best to scout the last jump lane from that system, then the remaining UAD jump lanes if possible.

3001.09

The NWA constructs all of the remaining new vessels, but insufficient funds means it will be a while before the remaining units can be constructed.

The RU offers the NWA a NAP, which is accepted automatically. A PT/TT is offered as well, which the NWA accepts.

The exploration squadron reaches Novi Agreatul, where it will explore the last jump route.

3001.10

The exploration squadron succeeds in its exploration attempt, jumping into...New Wessex. The NWA realises the potential impact this could have, as New Wessex had been thought to have no jump lanes left to be explored. The homeworld isn't as secure as it was thought to be...

3001.11

The NWA finishes construction of new units. It will be 3002.01 until the new construction is in position. The two light fleets will be stationed at New Wessex and New Quantock, where they can cover half of the NWA. The main fleet will be stationed at New Exmoor, which is more or less in the centre of the NWA.

The exploration squadron also travels to New Exmoor, where they started their journey a year and a half ago.

3001.12

The NWA encounters the New Kingdom of Denmark, an IND-3 level splinter colony. Relations are friendly and Normal Relations are entered into.

The NWA offers the RU an MDT, which is accepted (note: the result of a natural '50' rolled for the NWA relationship towards the RU)

End of Year 3001

New Wessex and Agreatul are the only two systems to experience population growth. Luckily for the NWA, however, solar flare activity dies down sufficiently to enable colonisation of Wessex-1 (Capacity+2)

New Quantock's Morale improves by 1, potentially the result of the former Camelot and Lundy colonists being in a state of full employment.

The RU has a special encounter with a massive advanced alien ship, which announces itself as the Adjudicators. The RU is deemed to be a species worthy of advancement, and is given plans for hyperspace engines, as well as the funds required to refit said ships*

*I just realised, after events in the current turn (3002.07) that I had not refitted RU vessels to use hyperdrives (a house rule), which would make events that occurred in 3002.07 impossible. So the Adjudicators make an excellent 'out', as it were--they provided them with the necessary funds

3002.01

The exploration squadron returns to New Exmoor.

The diplomatic corps is busy. The NWA signs a Partnership with the NHR, a Alliance with the RU and up to MDT with the NKD (the NAP, TT and PT being automatically accepted)

3002.02

The NHR constructs two Tauntons and 3 Basilissa Olgas to enable them to explore.

After their hyper-capable units are refitted (*ahem*), the RU detaches its scout squadron to begin exploration too.

3002.03

The RU discovers a minor colony system with a RAW of 6. It is earmarked for immediate colonisation.

The NHR encounters the AGP, an IND-2 power. Relations are almost hostile, and both enter into Non-Intercourse.

3002.04

The NWA purchases another point of productivity at New Wessex.

The RU colonises the new system, naming it Ravia-Lak.

In a closed session, the NHR secretly declares hostilities against the AGP.

3002.05

The RU disembarks the census at Ravia-Lak, purchasing another point of Productivity.

The NHR constructs six Bidefords, for the transportation of its Vasilefs Georgios into Alvenhai.

The NKD offers the NWA an Alliance, which is accepted.

A raid at Alvenhai occurs, which is beaten back by the AGP, but not before its two Gronprinzans and three of its six Alkolravs are destroyed, along with 28 Olkas lost (22 due to insufficient basing)

The NWA explores the last lane out of New Exmoor, ending up in Agreatul.

The NHR discovers a colony system with a RAW of 4. Most notable is the existence of a massive asteroid field.

3002.06

The RU embarks another census.

The NHR constructs 3 Cullomptons for escort duty for the main fleet.

The AGP constructs 2 Gronprinzans and one Alkolrav to shore up their defences.

The RU encounters the FR, a splinter colony when they explore another jump lane from their home system. Relations are hostile and shots are almost fired.

The NWA finds a jump lane from Agreatul to New Lundy (strictly speaking, they shouldn't as the last jump route was already explored last turn, but I just remembered a few minutes ago and the jump lane has been marked on the map already...)

A surge in the stock exchanges of New Wessex and New Hellas means the next turn will see a surge in income (+25% income for NHR, +15% for NWA)

New mineral deposits are discovered in New Denmark, effectively improving the income of the NKD by 50%

3002.07

BATTLE OF ALVENHAI (NHR vs AGP): NHR victory

BATTLE OF FOHLAK (RU vs FR): RU victory

The RU finishes its colonisation of Ravia-Lak with the disembarkment of the last free census and the purchasing of a third productivity point.

Before the Battle of Alvenhai, the AGP had constructed 20 Olkas for the new bases.

The FR had publically declared war on the RU previous to the Battle of Fohlak.

Will do when I get in front of the computer that has the relevent file. I'm at the library ATM--had a day out, first one in four months, and it wasn't as calming as I'd hoped...:(

Might be able to load it up to the Yahoo group today, or tomorrow, but if not, then it'll be on Saturday, when it'll be OOD and will have to be updated.

Of course, at the moment my head is buzzing with some ideas, so I might put the campaign on hold while I explore that idea, then restart it when I upload the file.

Its under the New Wessex Alliance campaign folder, and has the system chart, map and ship statistics for the powers activated so far...

3002.08

The NWA and NHR both failed on their exploration attempts.

Raiders struck at New Dartmoor. However, the blow is a little weak, seeing as it comes from 2 Sloops. The NWA defeats the raiders easily.

The AGP and FR both request an armistice which are both accepted. The AGP becomes a protectorate of the NHR, while the FR will become a protectorate of the RU.

The NHR will base its defence squadrons around a pair of Georgios Averoff with 12 Vasilefs Georgios. It will also recruit 3 Guards units at Alvenhai to maintain order on the ground. Along with this, 24 North Pethertons will be constructed to provide the main fleet with a fighter wing.

The RU is a bit more ambitious, deciding to improve its main fleet as well as its defence squadrons. Ten Ravia-Khostas and nine Ravia-Paqs will be constructed which will, along with the four Ravia-Khostas and twelve Ravia-Paqs, create seven destroyer squadrons, three of which will become defence squadrons and the other four to join the main fleet, replacing the two destroyer and two flank squadrons.

3002.09

The NHR and RU complete their fleet upgrades, the RU constructing some units at Fohlak due to insufficient shipyard slots at Ravia.

The RU scout squadron returns to exploration duty, but all three fail in their attempts.

The NKD, in a series of events, decides to formally request membership of the NWA, which is accepted.

The RU embarks one census onto the former FR transport fleet from Fohlak and moves the transport fleet to Ravia-Lak.

3002.10

The NWA scraps all NKD units--none of the NKD units are better than their NWA counterparts, and only the Helgoland is of any interest, possessing as it does a scout function. The NWA constructs a total of nine Wellingtons, three of which will form the defence squadron for New Denmark. The other six will form the defence squadrons of two new colonies, one from Agreatian colonists, and the second from colonists from New Denmark. The four transport fleets in the NWA move to their respective locations--one at Servalki, one at Agreatul and two at New Denmark--and embark one census each.

As well as the nine Wellingtons, the NWA constructs six Wurzels and twelve Lundys, to form trade and transport fleet escorts for every single trade and transport fleet.

The RU disembarks the lone census at Ravia-Lak and purchases another point of productivity.

3002.11

The NWA colonises #59 (now known as Wessex-Agreatul) and #38 (now known as New Jylland). The two extra census are placed there, and three points of productivity are purchased at the locations, turning the systems into supply points immediately. The NWA also purchases another point of productivity at Agreatul.

The NHR constructs 2 Tauntons for the main fleet, as the NHR hasn't got any fleet scouts of its own. These will assume control of the second line squadrons of two Georgios Averoff and three Basilissa Olgas.

The NWA encounters an IND-2 NPE called the Oriental Alliance. The homeworld system of New Asia suffered extremely badly from the hyperspace collapse (the standard explanation I use for an exploration campaign that uses a human power), with massive EMP surges that knocked out high technology and pushed them back almost to a pre-industrial state. They are still a fair way away from achieving interplanetary flight (220/500). And the OA has entered a period of isolation, from what little information passed between the orbital bases and the exploration squadron (the OA are a Social Autarky, a type of government I haven't played before, and would help partially explain the more defensive outlook).

Luckily, the OA and NWA are fairly friendly, and enter into normal relations.

The NHR encounters a splinter colony called the New Cypriot Republic. While of a comparable technology base to their parent 'splinter' colony, the NCR is not a rich power (peacetime income of 2 at this point). Luckily, the NCR and NHR are friendly and enter into normal relations.

(CM Notes: I'm kinda happy that the NHR and NCR are friendly, because the NCR would have been outgunned by even the pair of Tauntons and three Basilissa Olgas, and a battle would, given comparable readiness levels and turns, have only one outcome)

3002.12

The NWA purchases a point of productivity at New Denmark.

No raids occur, and no diplomatic actions take place this turn.

The NWA and NHR exploration squadrons return home. The RU exploration squadron fails in its exploration attempt.

End of Year 3002.

New Wessex, Exmoor, Dartmoor, Quantock, Agreatul, and New Asia experience population growth. New Hellas, Agreatul, Servalki and New Denmark experience a morale boost--however, Ravia-Lak's Morale drops down one.

The NWA stock market surges with extremely optimistic forecasts of growth (+50% to turn income)

Miners find new sources of minerals both in New Hellas and New Cyprus (+2 to RAW in both systems)

No NPE is generated for the third year in a row.

3003.01

All three exploration squadrons succeed in their exploration attempts--however, all find new lanes to explored systems. The NWA discovers a jump lane from Lundy to Wessex, the NHR discovers a route to Ravia-Lak from Hellas (the first face-to-face encounter between both powers). Luckily, they both get on and affirm their alliance to each other through the NWA. (both have alliances or partnerships with the NWA, so I decided unless they hated each other on site, they'd acknowledge that they were allies through the NWA)

The RU discovers a link to New Exmoor from Fohlak.

The NWA purchases a point of productivity at Novi Agreatul and Servalki.

The NCR offers the NHR an NAP, which is accepted.

The NHR constructs one Severn and two Dodecanese for their latest fleet expansion.

The RU decides to construct another three Ravia-Jaleks to join the main fleet and allow the existing Ravia-Jaleks to permanently be assigned to exploration duties.

No raids occur.

3003.02

The NHR constructs two Alfred the Greats and two Countys. They will be assigned to the line squadrons in the main fleet that consist of three Basileus Georgios. Their main duties will be to provide heavy firepower and lessen the reliance on the three escort squadrons and their flights of fighters.

The RU decides to enhance their firepower and defensive abilities by constructing three Ravia-Khostaloks and three Ravia-Yoskals as well as their fighters. This will mean there will be three cruiser squadrons, each with a single Ravia-Jalek in the squadron to improve defensive firepower for the scouts, along with two escort carrier squadrons, and 90 flights of Vaq ultralight interceptors.

No diplomatic efforts or raids occur this turn, and exploration squadrons return back to their systems of origin.

3003.03 (current turn)

The NWA has for the last few months been debating the need for a third light fleet, and the expansion of the NWA to twelve systems, and potentially a thirteenth, has pushed the decision on the matter towards a yes. The NWA constructs 3 Longbows, 3 Cullomptons, 2 Charmouths, 6 Bidefords, 6 Excaliburs, 6 Wellingtons and attendant fighters. The plan is to station this fleet at New Exmoor, to provide support duties in the 'core' of the NWA and allow the other two to journey more on the outskirts of the NWA. They also authorise the construction of two Tauntons and four Lundys to improve their exploration capabilities.

Two raids have occurred this turn--one at New Hellas by a single sloop and two Pinnaces, and another at New Jylland, by a pair of Dromons and 16 Darts. Both were launched against the trade fleets.
