Tech Levels

Post by japridemor »

One of the strengths of the second edition rules is the Unit Construction Rules in 5.4.3. The players in our local campaign use the Tech Level system in the Campaign Moderator's Companion from 1st edition. How would a Tech Level advancement in CC 8.2 calculate Construction Points as they aren't using ISD?

Just use the tech level as the tech year.
Drop the 3000 part and go with the levels from 0 up.
For example, Tech Level 4 would be equal to Tech Year 3004.
That's how I would do it.

It takes a lot longer to advance a tech level. Over one hundred turns you would have over 8 years go by but you might only advance two maybe three tech levels.

I'm thinking of using the same formula but rather than divide by 24 I'll try 6. And, since INT-1 starts at TL 6 that'll be the base like ISD 3000.

( 6 - TL ) / 6 * Construction Cost, round = extra CP for starships
