Re: How is the playtest going?
So people aren't turning in their turns? But that is good information to figure out, if there is a problem with the forms, it is a good time to find out. I do think it is really helpful to have the game sheets set up for download when the game goes commercial. But still, it seems a pity if the play-...

How is the playtest going?
So I am assuming that the playtest is ongoing but off the forum.... how is it going? Any general impressions? How does the combat system work?

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update
I meant the more generic version with the ADB stuff stripped out. You mentioned you were writing one for 2E VBAM, but since work on that seems rather... quiet of late (and I think is going on 4 years or so...), I was wondering if you had enough to put something out. Maybe it wouldn't make much sense...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update
Does that mean you will have to wait for 2E to be released in a final version? Because playtest and development seem to be moving at a rather uneven pace on that game. Sort of a pity if it holds up other products. Maybe go with what you have at this point and patch it later if necessary? Waiting for...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update
Is there anything the community can do to help get a settingless version of the game out? I personally would love to use it for F&E, which I think is showing its age. But of course you would have to strip out anything overtly Trekish, but perhaps there is still something good there? It seems lik...

Re: VBAM 2E Playtest Files (Was: Any Updates?)
Ok, a little late but just wanted to offer something on the contested movement. Would you consider changing the pin requirement (it is basically like Fed and Empire's mechanic, right..) to just a straight ship count, as in 1/2 the defenders ships. the issue is that construction cost very closely tra...

Re: Curious about the business tactic used here...
Virtus, my issue is this... how long did it take you to write that message? Not too long. And what is your potential economic gain from the product? Nothing. When they ask for help, and it seems like the help is.. well, helpful, I don't get why there can't be a similar time expenditure. Like I said ...

Re: Curious about the business tactic used here...
I find myself starting to care about this product about as much as the company seems to care about us... Truth be told, I will probably still buy the game, I am a sucker for the genre and really I think only this and Starfire do it paper style! But since Tyrel's group seems to have all the playtesti...

Re: 2E Ability Brainstorm: Marines, Assault, Atmospheric, ??
ah, ok, i see what you are driving at a bit more. but there is no 'atmospheric' unit. there are space-based units that have an atmo ability. they already can fight in space. atmo is extra. a space based atmo unit is just a flight (or ship i suppose) that has atmo. the way i see it, which may not be ...

Re: 2E Ability Brainstorm: Marines, Assault, Atmospheric, ??
I didn't want my previous post to come across as dispariging of mecha wanting folks, sorry. i really just meant that i think that the mechanics are there already. if you call a flight 'mecha' then everything is there right? i dont' think we should add traits that are basically the same thing as anot...

Re: 2E Ability Brainstorm: Marines, Assault, Atmospheric, ??
I guess I am just not seeing the void here. we have 'atmospheric' which means 'can operate in space and in ground combat' so, i guess i just don't see what is missing. i mean the term is backwards for ground units, but the effect is the same, yes? really, just use 'transitional' for any unit that ca...

Re: 2E Ability Brainstorm: Marines, Assault, Atmospheric, ??
So the question is about ground units interacting with space forces? Well, I think in a future-war setting, the vertical defense envelope would have to be expanded to include near orbit, so the AA type unit would be one that could fire at ships threatening the planet. I don't think having infantry s...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update
Well, for sure I hope you let us know if there is something we can do to help this along. I think not only would it be cool itself, but it would be a great product to bring to the consimworld and bbg wargame communities, which may be a nice additional market for you products. Have you thought about ...

Re: VBAM 2E Playtest Files (Was: Any Updates?)
Tech advance.... Personally I am agnostic on which system is better. just eyeballing it, it looks about the same, but if you have prototypes cost TP (which is a great idea) then the slower advance would probably be better. if you do the fast/small increase the prototype costs could get a bit problem...

Re: VBAM 2E Playtest Files (Was: Any Updates?)
I agree with nimrod here about shipyards being infrastructure. I am not pushing for a change! but i can say for my modified rules, shipyards and intel (i will use them as HQ's) will be 'installations' which exist to turn points created by infrastructure (EP and TP respectively) into specific project...
