Perhaps, but you could say the same for any board war game. Perhaps, although I would note that there isn't really a "board" in the traditional sense in a VBAM game... I guess you could use VASSAL to administrate die rolls, but most everything else is paperwork - it might be better handle...

My biggest problem with the game is finding like minded opponents ...
The way VBAM works you don't really need VASSAL - just an email program,

While it would save some space... I do think it could be core to a fair few games, and perhaps laying the groundwork now is a good thing (I know that I plan on using it, and I can't say the same about the new and far more complex CSCR, although I will withhold final judgement until it's in my hands)...

Re: questions

Now, all that being said, do you guys think it would be preferable to change the commerce income rules so that you just get a fixed level of benefit from each colony output so that a colony would have a +1 trade value or a +4 trade value -- i.e., the exact amount of income you will earn if you have...

I am finally crawling back out of the pit that has been my uncomfortable abode for the last month... Good to see you back, Asteroid Belt Stuff... Just to throw fuel onto the fire here... While you have a very good point from a purely scientific point of view, which of these situations seems more li...

I think species will be forced to spend at least half their available points on physical or homeworld traits, just to keep things fair, but I am still on the fence about that. You could go with something like: [Total Points / 2] - 2 That way races with only a few points aren't too heavily restricte...

I'd actually prefer that we leave jump lanes somewhat abstracted- since they are the default I'd prefer the 'science' behind them be capable of being morphed to fit a variety of games. We can leave the more advanced or alternative movement rules to the CM Guide. Thing is that the way they work in-g...

From the system generation rules: Is there any particular reason why asteroid belts are a feature of a planet (in 5.6.9.3) rather than as a system-body (or possibly a system terrain)? (indeed, a single planet may have several asteroid belts if it has several moons!) Also, is the chart in 5.6.1 organ...

The currents I would leave just in the warp, which I don't think the eldar will enter. The last thing they'd want would be to put all those tasty eldar souls any closer to Slaanesh than absolutely necessary. How then do they establish new webway portals? Or assault hostile planets? Certainly it sou...

Would it be sufficient to simply say that any unit with any sort of basing capability cannot be based on another unit? Perhaps, What about "units with basing capacity may never base units of an equal or greater size" Maybe basing should have an extremely limited ability to be "compre...

That was more what I meant, Build up the map on hexes, using hex-based movement for all factions. Then allow the eldar access to webways consisting of interconnecting portals in specific systems (jump lanes), Not sure if it's tru to the setting, but you could even make the portals a large installati...

Are you using a jump lane network for the non-eldar players? (From memory, WH40K would seem to use something like the hex-based movement system described in the Moderators Companion), If you wanted to include the webway then you could give the eldar their own webmap for their own use - whether they ...

Re: Ground Unit Question.

A player could conceivably perfect a practically infinite-sized combat force of nested Flights/Aircraft that would be individually crap that, in aggregate, could completely overwhelm any potential opponent. -Tyrel That sounds suspiciously like there's a bug in the mechanic you are using to determin...

Am I correct in thinking that there's a section on interplanetary movement missing from either the movement section or the system generation section? Movement refers to interplanetary lanes which don't seem to exist as a concept in system generation? I do like the layered campaign map, but unless I ...
