Re: Scripts and Computer Play Aids?
Are these the kinds of SVGs that can work for you? I can tinker some more with ways to convert my huge library of scaled ship PNGs and JPEGs into SVGs if they need some work. <svg version="1.0" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="177.000000pt" height="453.000...

Re: Scripts and Computer Play Aids?
I just want to say these tracking systems look great! Way better than my usual google spreadsheets and more interactive/intuitive to boot!

Re: Galaxies: Federation Border
I may also give this campaign a restart, since I liked the map, but with some tweaked raider rules and a ship design list I'm more satisfied with.

Re: VBAM Second Edition to Starmada Nova
Doubly true now that Starmada is releasing their new Unity edition! Hopefully I'll get some time to ponder this, but honestly I like the new Galaxies single squadron system so much it feels less needed to port the rules for a replacement combat system.

Re: Galaxies: Federation Border
I ran nine months of this before I found several things not to my satisfaction (mostly my own fault in ship design). However, some things that worked well: 1) Intel and diplomacy. Diplomacy less so because this was a kind of "eternal war" scenario, but intel fights (we had only one real on...

Re: VBAM Galaxies
Agreed - still following with great interest. My workload increased about 10x since December unexpectedly, but I should get at least some down time in the next few weeks here, and I love some of the gameplay aids and ideas that have been bouncing around. I promise I wasn't posting on a lark, and I d...

Re: Galaxies: Federation Border
Non-narrative post: this campaign will be almost entirely base Galaxies. It will also include some elements of With A Purpose (because I love those rules), and a slightly more difficult Exploration roll to make sure it'll take some time to actually explore. I'll run the Cardassians and other Non Pla...

Re: Rising Tide solo 2E/Galaxy
Really enjoying the tension increases and the creative justification that goes along with it. I almost feel bad for the Tasaloni against your massive, massive war chest. What on earth would you do with all those saved EP - warp lanes or something?

Galaxies: Federation Border
The year is 2325, and Starfleet is stretched thin. Here, on the far edge of the Alpha Quadrant, first contact has just been made with a new and mysterious empire, and things are tenuous and worried. Though there are many new member worlds and sectors, Sol is nearly a year away at maximum warp, and t...

Re: Flights
All the runs I've done with the current Galaxies flights - at 1/2/3/4 EP and 4/6/8/10 CP respectively, with flight crippling allowed - has seemed pretty balanced. Unfortunately, because they're not in the context of a campaign, it's hard to speak to their maintenance cost balance. Perhaps most impor...

Re: Space Combat - The Elephant in the Room
One of the big balancing acts when I've been playing Galaxies has been which ships to include in each round of combat and who to rotate in and out each round. There are three tradeoffs: 1) I need small ships because I can give them Disruptor, Guardian, Suppression, and Support missions for 1CP each....

Re: Ground Units
Since I posted it on the last page, here's the set of rules I have been using for most of my tests, with some new small tweaks (like a changed cost for Marines) based on those tests. Still totally open to ways this might be unbalanced or tweaked - a few solo runs at using it does not a bulletproof f...

Re: Ground Units
So I ran a couple of extended tests, only one is in pretty format here: A Federation invasion force attacks a Cardassian fleet and space station. With two convoys and the superior fleet, they hope to brush aside the resistance and land, but Cardassian orbital defenses contribute a lot of firepower t...

Re: Ground Units
So I did six playtests with 40k and Star Trek ground units. What they revealed confirms the idea that ground combat doesn't need all the frills of space combat, but that with some of the changes we discussed, they can be dynamic and interesting without taking up too much of the stage. A couple examp...

Re: Rising Tide solo 2E/Galaxy
Really enjoying the fluff here, and you are doing a nice job bringing in the minor power as a useful and interesting element. Fluff wise, I particularly enjoy the bordering-on-comical characterizations of Samarth society and government, and the way you are mechanically handling the question of anoma...
