I like the idea of an officer being wounded instead. That would remove the "all or nothing" effect as it currently stands, and would provide an extra use for Hospital ships (shave some turns off of that convalescence time). As for tracking officers, I will have to playtest the rules in a h...

Alternatively, the other route is to signifigantly depower officers. This is pretty much the route that I am headed. Some officer traits will remain pretty powerful, but all in all it will become much more difficult to create a truly dominating elite officer. As an example, the space combat traits ...

I think a Fighter Garrison facility as outlined would be the best solution for allowing the deployment of fighters to forward locations. One wing per garrison is a good number, and a cost to build similar as a supply depot would be appropriate though I would make maintenance cost be about half that,...

Does medical have enough stuff to stand apart from science? Medical stuff is about half of the useful science anyways. It is good to hear that officer revision/errata is underway. :D The biggest problem I ran into with Medical is in regards to officer classification, and how many officers are allow...

The restricted concept is kind of a nuisance to deal with, and my current line of thinking with the revised elite officers rules that I have been kicking around essentially makes it so that only the best officer bonus applies no matter what, so all traits essentially become "restricted". I...

I have always allowed it. This is of course the easiest way to put a supply depot in place on an otherwise uninhabited planet/system. The danger to the person doing this is that it becomes much easier for ground forces to be cutoff and blockaded, as the uninhabited planet can't possibly provide supp...

A proof of the printed version is on order and once it arrives (probably after the Thanksgiving holiday, unfortunately) I will be able to check it for any problems and, barring any, can get our first order here from the printer by the next week.

They are an unfortunate nuisance that are hard to get rid of. Once possible solution would be to require all accounts to be authorized by an administrator, which would at least keep them from posting... though someone would still have to go in from time to time to prune out the junk accounts. I can'...

I would tend to agree with Bren. Changing KEB defense values on Starmada ships via refits doesn't feel right, since doing so has no necessary cost associated with it, really. I think in Jay's refit calculation you would be figuring the amount taken off and then the amount added back on, but I am not...

I see where you are going with this. So in a tight game I may see that Jet Jeeterson is causing Condo, D.C. to shoot up in the ratings just enough to beat out Blue's Dicotomy from my studio, and I could use an Industry Card (do these cost money, or are they drawn) to slander him in the press, perha...

My perception is that the actor cards are the "Wild" controllable factor to the fickle viewing audience. So putting Harold McGill on the Today Show, and making a fool of himself is a good ploy to get viewers. I think balancing what you can control "Do we pay Harold $5 a show for that...

Network Mogul Pilot & Actor Ideas?

I will eventually get a playtest pack put together for Network Mogul, but before I do that I thought I would pick everyone's brain for any zany series or actor ideas/blurbs that could appear in the game? Jay has sent a few, but since we need about 100 pilot cards (potentially), it would be nice to h...

General VBAM Production Update

I just wanted to post something quick to let people know where products are at in the production process. I am the chokepoint when it comes to products getting finished and out the door, and since we have two major projects ready to head out soon... well... I'm busy. Mercenary Air Squadron is almost...

MAS Production Update - 10/29/2007

Hey everyone, Jay sent me a bunch of the remaining Appendices this morning, and I hope to get to them tomorrow evening and start putting the final touches on the layout. I spent most of this last weekend redoing the plane sheets to be graphically consistent with the MAS book layout. Once I have thin...

Glad to hear that you have actually found friendly foreign powers this game! Charlie and I can both vouch for your earlier experience with fiendishly aggressive powers skewing an otherwise fun campaign :) In my first VBAM Starmada campaign, I found a fair sized enemy empire that instantly declared w...
