Re: Steel Castles sourcebook in the yards!

Well I figured that was the connection but didn't want to assume anything. I know that Castles of Steel is actually a Churchill quote from one of his visits to the fleet. I need to move on to the rest of the fleets, but I haven't had time to resolve the torpedo question yet. Still, having the basic ...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

... VBAM is all luck? Yeah the SFB grognards can't bear the thought of one side rolling a 1 in combat and the other side rolling a 6. It keeps them up at night, tossing and turning. "What if that 1 is me?! I'll have to stop and think about my invasion plans!" When talking about the...

Re: Steel Castles sourcebook in the yards!

Great to hear you're still progressing.
I've been reading Dreadnought by Robert K Massie. Very good read if you've not read it already. Next up I may grab his Castles of Steel book which is said to be a rough continuation.

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Yeah but if he dislikes some part of the product, or has some problem with what Jay's formatting or anything else, those sentiments should be kept behind closed doors. He is so afraid of shouldering any blame for the project's shortcomings that he uses Jay/VBAM as a scapegoat. For example, just say ...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Right now there are three main guys on the BGG thread Garth - Who is fairly level-headed, but I think I pushed his buttons a bit too much so now he's defensive and repeating a lot of what SVC is saying. I don't think he's seen the draft at all, but just takes what SVC says as gospel most of the time...

Re: Mini Pics & Fanart

To be fair I probably made Bishop chunkier because I had problems drawing the curvy one. Straight lines are generally easier to do than curves. :D The Xandar is a bit closer to the original but even then I took some liberties.

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Tony just posted on the BGG. Admits that that he was wrong in saying he didn't playtest it. Good on him for this. Ah... Goodie. 10 pages in, but it's back to me - the ADB Fanboy scapegoat. As you've pointed out quite thoroughly - I did indeed spend time playing the game. I still do not however; at t...

Re: 1E Encounter Resolution

Great thx, Paul! Yeah the stuff with generating scnenarios afterwards is not the issue. The issue is that it says nowhere that you can FORCE someone into a defensive scnenario. My fellow players say that the one proposing the defensive scenario is always becoming the defender even if I am the invad...

Re: Some Noob Questions

By the way check out the VBAM yahoo group:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/VBAM/info

You might find some worthwhile files and fan-create content on there. It's also another place to ask questions.

Re: 1E Encounter Resolution

Did you sign up for the VBAM yahoo group? There's a lot of fan-created content up there. I don't know if there are any flowcharts but you might find what you're looking for: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/VBAM/info As for convincing your players. Reading 3.4.3.1 Normal Relations. "If any o...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Yeah so on the BGG boards, one of the ADB defenders called me a Troll and compared to me to people who beat their wives: http://boardgamegeek.com/article/23647143#23647143

Nice fanbase huh?

Re: 1E Encounter Resolution

Ooops. Made a mistkae in my initial post if you caught it before the edit. Multiple scenarios can be generated according to the rules so you wouldn't need to do any fancy intel stuff (which I've removed from the above post). But I think you would still need to fight that one deep space scenario befo...

Re: Some Noob Questions

Ok. Don't know how I overlooked that. Thanks again for your help & patience. Your answer leads to another question. As I understand it, you can make countless scenarios between the same fleets in one turn, as long as one Player want it, and the other one didn't run. Your answer seems to say onl...

Re: Some Noob Questions

Thanks again. We go with: So by that definition, I think that you can only NOT trace a supply route through a system which is controlled by a hostile power. Also arguably, you might say you cannot trace a supply route through a uncontrolled space. So you may be required to leave a ship in the syste...
