Re: The Glorious Stars Playtest

Okay, I have been out of town and am just getting caught up on all the NEE council meetings and such. I know that the houses are going to be allowed to make their own treaties, but as background info on how the NEE currently works, I would like to know how movement is allowed into or through the non...

Re: Favorite Tactical Systems to use with VBAM

Starmada (by Majestic12 games) is a popular choice. So popular that they published book for interfacing between Starmada and VBAM. There is a newer version of Starmada out now (http://www.mj12games.com/starmada/mjg0130.html), so you would have to rewrite the changes, but it is a good start. Here is ...

Re: Web play aids

Looks great, but I noticed one jump route missing between Yill and Hagor (to the right of Cycept).

Re: Test Combats

So, with current rules my understanding is: 1) Re-roll Readiness each round. Are there any modifiers (initial modifiers, last round's modifiers)? I like the rolling of Readiness each round as it adds a sense of "the odds changing" to things, which also makes my predilection using last rou...

Re: Playtest Rules Notes

Originally, I thought it meant what you said - Stealth Attack ships don't get PD at all - but I was told that it was incorrect and what I explained above is the case. Then they better clarify that since according to the rules, "Any unit that perform an attack during the Stealth Attack Phase wo...

Re: Playtest Rules Notes

Stealth Attacks The last paragraph on page 84 does not make sense to me. "Any unit that perform an attack during the Stealth Attack Phase won't contribute its Screening or Attack values to its task force during future phases this combat round. The units has already fired and expended its arsena...

This is for "VBAM 2E Campaign Guide 2013-01-06-A.pdf". More errata and questions. Page 47 - Signing or Rejecting a Treaty (1st paragraph, 1st sentence) "When a treaty offer succeeds it is then passed on *to* the target who must then make his own roll to see if its government is willin...

Playtest Rules Notes

This is for "VBAM 2E Campaign Guide 2013-01-05-A.pdf". I am about a third of the way through it, but since Tyrel is already posting a new version, I figured I would go ahead and get my notes and questions in for the previous version. Page 8 - Population Points This is the only place I have...

Re: 2E Playtest: Universal Aquisitions

How are you deriving the CC value? Is it still BC/2? The revised versions of the WIldcat and Ferret (BC4, CC1/2) indicate that maybe it is something else. BC/5 rounded down. CC is being computed as BC / 5, round down (min 1/2). That's why units that cost 1-4 end up with 1/2 CC. The CR is then (CC x...

Re: VBAM2E Colonies

5.5.4 Reprisals The Reprisal Table numbers are off. Also, the last sentence of the 4th paragraph doesn't really make sense. Particularly brutal reprisals that result in the wholesale slaughter of civilian populations (Census loss) double the relationship penalties for empires that object to these h...

Re: VBAM2E Colonies

5.5.2 Loyalty Checks Example: Proxima is an inhabited system with 4 Census, 2 facilities, and 5 CC of friendly ground combat units that have a total of 7 Police value between them. The target value for Proxima’s loyalty chance is 5 (Census + 1). The roll is modified by -2 (facilities) , +2 (friendl...

Re: VBAM2E Colonies

5.5.2 Loyalty Checks Every colony also has a chance of gaining Morale from its loyalty check. A natural ‘20’ roll on a loyalty check increases a system’s Morale by 1. Systems with luxury resorts receive +1 Morale on a natural ‘19’, too. This potential bonus allows colonies a chance to improve their...

Re: VBAM2E Colonies

5.2.1 Population Growth Any excess food beyond the amount required to feed an empire's Census are converted into population points that a player can use to found new colonies or increase populations at its existing colonies. Except that population points are not used for purchasing colonies any mor...
