Re: Any interest in pulling together a 1st edition PBEM game

I think TCW could be run multi-player, just splitting each side into several 'fronts'. But I agree, JC would fit a few players right away without any problem.

Re: Any interest in pulling together a 1st edition PBEM game

One thing I've always been interested in running is either the Jovian Chronicles setting or the Terran Civil War setting. Do either of those grab peoples interest?

Re: Any interest in pulling together a 1st edition PBEM game

Sorry for the delay on this, work has been a little nuts. Still coming up with a campaign proposal!

Re: Any interest in pulling together a 1st edition PBEM game

I'm going to away for the weekend but when I return I will propose a couple of solid alternatives.

Re: Any interest in pulling together a 1st edition PBEM game

I stumbled across my Jovian Chronicles VBAM book recently so I'm highly tempted to run that. But I'm open for anything- we can do a pre-made universe with set force lists, start a campaign using the Starmada-X conversion, or something else entirely. What would people prefer?

Any interest in pulling together a 1st edition PBEM game?

Hey all, I'm wondering if there's interest in pulling together a 1st edition PBEM game? I have missed VBAM greatly since my last game ended, and with 2nd Edition still in the works I think a new 1st edition game might be what is needed. No particular ideas for setting/optional rules/etc at the momen...

Re: Mass Effect VBAM

For System/Cluster Movement, just treat each cluster as it's own self-contained map, using the normal jump lane rules. For Element Zero, I'd consider something like 'maximum number of EP worth of ships each turn = economic output of all colonies with Element Zero'. That keeps it easy and scales with...

Ok, I can buy the variable costs- variable growth rates for different empires won't even be that hard to work in still, it's still just a bonus to your PGP generated per turn (however that is calculated). One thing I'd make clear in the rules though is that Census represents a non-linear # of people...

This sounds good to me- in my semi-playtest solo campaign earlier, I did find all the different campaign-wide checks became onerous. I'd base the # of checks on census rather then GDP- presumably the intent is to have the number of checks go up with the 'size' of the Empire, and I think Census is a ...

Yes, I forgot for solo campaigns they add an important element of flavor as well, so that's a point for inclusion. But overall the rules still strike me as chrome- very cool and interesting chrome, but still not a part of the core 'experience' the rules provide. And I'd rather have the rules intact ...

In my opinion these definitely seem like optional rules to me. First, as was pointed out, a vast majority of the campaigns are likely going to involve only interstellar powers, so the rest of the rules are going to be just take up space. Second, and this might be just me, but the whole 'lose populat...

Yay, activity! I voted No- Fixed Census cost. I think that at the population levels each census must represent, moving them around in VBAM time scales just isn't feasible. I much prefer the idea of using PGP to buy a colony up from census 0 (representing a few hardy pioneers) to census 1 (a well est...

Either that or have some sort of sub-chart for major results (it could even be based upon the die result in some way - if odd results are "major" then unit results of 1 or 3 (i.e. 91 or 53) could be Serious/Good, results of 5 or 7 could be very serious/very good and results of 9 could be ...

Rules Question - Commerce Raiding

Hi all, I've been working on my own solo playtest campaign with the files provided so far (though I see stuff has already been updated again!). I have had my first Pirate Force form. The Chapter 14 section on what exactly the pirates do (other then raid colonies) is empty though- so how in general a...
