Re: Open Playtest
I agree with Iron Sky, I like exploration. Though I also love ship design. I also know absolutely nothing about the stars Divided setting. :) As for the playtest, It really depends on what this meant to test for the setup. If it's game balance, combat and tech, then the starting set of systems for e...

Re: Open Playtest
I'm interested.
I like the start from scratch type games but a more advanced start could definitely be interesting and probably better from a rules testing perspective.

Re: Hello, Can I ask for some advice ..
I'd love to see Captain and Admiral level systems as well as the Commodore.
Adding a front page where you can just check boxes or fill in text boxes for the options you want and then hit a generate button would be cool too.

Re: Human Republic Playtest Thread
I'd actually expect it to work kind of the other way around, Whilst I would agree that the real world works that way, I prefer the simple mechanic here. Essentially, it represents hitting the big stuff until it turns into the small stuff that's not worth going after. There's always a little bit of ...

Re: Human Republic Playtest Thread
As much as I would like to get the trade point setup in Archer, I think Carthage needs immediate attention. This is going to kill our tech advance costs, but I'm happy to wait on that. When we're finally ready to start moving on this, we'll need to upgrade the home system to TL1 unless we get some s...

Re: Human Republic Playtest Thread
Seeing as the Technocratic Party is a threat to both industrial and mercantile interests I would propose that the Industrial Party and Mercantile Party for a coalition government at this time. We both agree that piracy is an important issue to address immediately and that Archer needs minimal coloni...

Re: Human Republic Playtest Thread
While I agree with the esteemed chancellor potentate on our priorities, I do request a few small changes to the priorities. I would recommend starting Archer colony, though with only 1 or at most 2 census, first and reducing piracy second before increasing the local industrial and shipyard capacity....

I agree completely duxdarius. Though I don't like the end's in 5 or 0 almost as much as loathe the even/odd mechanic. Part of that goes back to using a d20 instead of d% for most things as a simplification, for those that want it, and mostly because if I'm using percentages I'd rather just use perce...

Exploration does something like this- there's a second chart to see what exactly happens (other than 'force in peril'), so it's not always a total disaster. It does make every roll somewhat nerve wracking though. Also, as a more general suggestion, since in the campaign check system low resul...

My only complaint on the even/odd mechanic is that sometimes the difference between a minor/major result is quite large. For exploration, if I roll a minor failure I make no progress, but if I roll a major failure I could lose the whole squadron? Since the difference between those two results could...

Degree of Success Levels
There are 2 different methods used in the V2 books for determining Degree of Success; the even/odd method and the 50% method (used in the diplomatic rules). There really should be only 1 methodology used throughout the rules and I would recommend the 50% method. The first reason is dice simplificati...

In real life, the design requirements for a ship intended to enter/escape planetary gravity, let alone aerodynamic requirements for flying in atmosphere are immense. In fact, the more massive a ship got, the more of its mass would need to be dedicated to reaching escape velocity and not being torn ...
