Maybe Worlds of MAS should have a contingency for some planes that are purchased to have substandard manufacture/parts? :)

Hmm, I don't think I thought my plan all the way through! :? I think the best solution is to increase the costs (both construction and maintenenance) to try and balance them more against their normal abilities. If construction costs were increased by a "step" (1/2 to 1/1, 1/1 to 3/2, 2/1 t...

I am glad that it seemed to have helped, then. I know that people are still able to register legitimate accounts after the change, too, as I had Roy do that just to test and see if I had managed to break something else.

Aurora has been interesting to watch the past year or two during its development. It represents a game that is a bit more than I would want to play for fun without an AI to play against, though. There are a lot of interesting concepts, but to me it is more of a "software toy" than anything...

Though I don't think it is in the rules anywhere, the rule of thumb I usually use for forces that are at Normal Relations is very much like you already outlined. If Player A enters Player B's colonized (controlled) star system, then Player A cannot generate a scenario, but Player B can. In other wor...

Charlie, have you noticed any decrease in the number of spambots creating new accounts?

The only thing I could think of was Futurama, and it is more of an integrated population under 1 government. The robots in Futurama tend to trend towards Anarchy (or is that just Bender?) :) I could see eliminating the government limitation on Robotic, and then Robotic empires could either select C...

That is good. However when it becomes combined with the idea that formation bonus applies to regular damage, it becomes BAD. The damage reduction works well when used in conjunction with (IIRC) Mike Riddle's idea of tying innate formation bonuses to the number of ships in a squadron, and the number...

Good catch! That is something that I didn't plan for. I would say in your circumstance that the player shouldn't be able to do it, and the rule quote that you found serves as ample justification for that position. Exterminating your own Census is both cruel and unusual. His own justification is an i...

There is quite a bit to cover, and each of the core developers will be submitting their "wish lists" so to speak as to what we think need changed, and then reach a final consensus from there. We all have an idea of what we would like to change, but we just haven't had time to sit down and ...

I got distracted around the holidays, but I am working on finishing the book up (finally). I originally had the draft setup in Microsoft Word, but started running into stability issues with the document (too much artwork makes Word go wonky), so I have spent the last two evenings porting it into InD...

It is still a work on progress. At our meeting last weekend we set up a plan to get at least some draft candidates ready by the end of the year. The intent with the CSCR 2.0 is to try to correct some underlying problems in the CSCR system, including increasing the usefulness of formation bonuses and...

For my own force lists, I have settled on giving ships the Kinetic/Energy/Ballistic designations for ships that have a preponderance of one type of weapon or another. Units with these traits then can purchase and use weapon packages/enhancements that correspond to their weapon traits. This adds anot...

I've always played that both players can use Intel to affect diplomatic actions. Your first example is a good one of how that would work. For most of my games I have also separated Intel into three pools: Military, Defensive and Diplomatic. The Intel points in the Diplomatic Intel Pool are thus the ...
