Still more observations
One of the opening paragraphs of the supply section (X.2.4 Supply) are cut off/incomplete, which leads me to ask the following question about supply range I assume (based on what appears in the cutoff paragraph) that a planet's supply infrastructure rating generates an equal number of "supply m...

Gah, yes, I hadn't got the new formulas passed through to the Colonies chapter yet. That is all related to the fact that commerce output used to be trade output/value, which is where the mistake comes from. I will get that cleared up tonight. -Tyrel So the second set is the current correct set. I a...

Noticed something about prerequisites
In the Technology file there is as statement in 11.4.3 that for an interplanetary empire to reach Interstellar level it must have 10 technologies at level 2. However the entry in 11.5.7 Technology Database that deals with the FTL drive states that the prerequisites for FTL are: Defense (1), Engines ...

Observation about the Colony File and Economics
The formula for calculating the Trade value is different in the Colony and Economic files. The Colony file reads: A colony’s Commerce value will also have a direct impact on the amount of commerce income it will generate when it is part of a X.X Trade Route. Each colony has a trade value equal to it...

Re: A couple of Minor Questions
1. Assuming v2 will have the Fleets (Trade, Colony and Transport) what will the FTL speed be? A single Civilian Fleet unit will replace the individual fleets from 1E. A civilian fleet will have the following stats: Based on that I must assume that the single fleet would be assigned the various duti...

Something else that I just realized as an additional point of reference is that the cost of destroyers, which were usually 2-3 EP in 1E, are now also closer to 4-5 EP in 2E, so there is a general cost increase for all units in the game. As to bolos -- yes, you can build gigantic ground units that w...

First off is Unit Size. In 1E, all ground units were essentially equivalent to SIZ 10 units in 2E for movement purposes. However, 2E tries to push for smaller ground units, usually closer to the 3-5 SIZ limit. You used SIZ 5, and that sounds good to me. That gives us a Maximum Mass of 1034 to work ...

Ground Unit Costs
Using the Unit building rules Ground units are much more expensive in V.2 Take a Marine unit, In V1 it is listed as size 5 DV3 ATTK3 ATTR3 and having a cost of 1/2 EP. To get the same stats it would cost 10 points (this is with Assualt added to represent the old "Marine" special ability an...

I'd imagine they would have to come through a different training regime. IIRC the marines serve as damage control and gun crew on ships, but the bulk of their duties are going to require an entirely different set of skills from those a naval officer would need. We know there is both a Manticorian A...

In the Honor Harrington Series, it is reported that Midshipment spend 3.5 years on the campus, then a 6 mounth "snotty cruise", which depending on what they did results in a Line Commission, a staff commision or your diploma with a statement that the Navy realy doesn't need you after all. ...
