Re: Required rule books

Some might argue that campaign games called Federation & Empire aren't really their forte either

That is one complicated mutha of a system.

I'm interested in the local campaign stuff but, for me, that doesn't have to be a component of the core rules, which I see as being VBAM-lite, plus stats for the ships in FC:KB, plus one or two sample campaigns/scenarios.

Still, this is hopefully good news.

I think we're all like minded on this one. Well, as like minded as a survey sample of three can be!

Makes sense to me too. Any plans to get ADB to print some copies of 2e and send it into distribution, rather than the Lulu route to market?

Yeah, I'm thinking following the Klingon Armada (the SFU version of Starmada) approach is the only way to go. I seriously doubt we will ever see FA published in its current form (and I do mean ever). The only SFU branded bit of the Starmada project was the basic rulebook, the bit called Klingon Arma...

Might work. That's what happened with the ADB version of Starmada after all, which went from proposal to published in record time. The ADB release was just the bare minimum necessary to play the game plus the Star Fleet Universe feel bit (basic rules plus some ship stats). All the options were relea...

Thanks for the excellent insight into the ADB way of doing things, Ken. Given what you have outlined, and seeing what else is on the "to do" list, it's hard to see ADB finding the time to even look at FA this side of Origins, never mind the previously touted "Spring 2010" for pub...

It looks that way, which then begs the interesting question of whether or not to revise FA to bring it back into line with 2e? I know FA drove a lot of the thinking for 2e but there are bound to be some instances where the two are now out of step. However, might that be an opportunity to revise the ...

Prime Directive Feds next. Then an SFB product, Andromedan Threat File. You heard it here first ;-) Really? Unfortunately I haven't heard a word. -Jay It's only my speculation based on the fact they were also announced as spring releases and have stock numbers allocated (FA does not). Plus we unfor...

F&E 2010, like you said. Until that's done, nothing on the list of spring projects, never mind FA, is going to get much in the way of SVC time.

I think that was my point. That list of things that have to get done before FA can even be looked at doesn't include the most important thing of all that out prioritises even those things.

A spring release would be brilliant but, I suspect, is wishful thinking.

I'll believe it when I see it  There's a lot of projects being worked on between now and then that don't even appear in that list (F&E 2010 most notably) and I think it's fair to say from SVC's comments that even carrying out an inventory of the stationery cupboard is going to take priority...
