First of all, let me say that I'm very excited about the news that this is going to be published at some point in 2009 (hopefully). One question I had was: Was there a decision made on the campaign scale (Local, Regional or Strategic)? Initially I probably would have wanted the Regional Strategic le...

VBAM + Starmada: Admiralty Edition

Hey guys... Can someone provide some information on what's going to happen regarding the VBAM: The Starmada Edition book? Will there be an update to the Admiralty Edition, and will it be a separate stand alone product or will it be an update to the current product? ie, if it's a new product entirely...

I didn't get a chance to mess with the system this weekend or week, although I've continued to read the rulebooks. I'll have to take a pass on the "Like Cherry Blossoms on Water" campaign due to the small amount of free time I'll have the next few weeks to spend on it. But I'll follow the ...

Some questions about the CSCR...

Hey guys... Couple of questions about the CSCR. One isn't a question, so much as a comment. The equation to determine AS and AF fire is algebraically the same. AS damage = (AS * ( D6 + RM) / 10 ) AF Damage = (AF * ( D3 + RM / 2) / 5 ) Another way to look at AF Damage is: (AF * ( (D6 / 2) + (RM / 2) ...

We'll see... It is tempting. I'm probably going to try to start up a game this weekend solitaire to get a handle on how it works and then see if I think I can join in this one.

Leo_vs_Aidan: Any idea about how many turns a week you're planning? I'm tempted, but I'm thinking I might be better off starting with a simpler campaign (even a solitaire one) before diving into a more intense campaign.

I'll let you know any fun points in the Campaign Designer's Handbook (CDH) (which can still be bought 'new'). The technology trees are actually pretty applicable to Federation Commander, although I don't buy some elements (the movement tech tree looks cool, but since I've never played an SFB/FC game...

Got it! (And any upcoming games for newbies?)

So VBAM showed up at my door on Saturday. I've begun looking through the base rulebook (I also got the CM guide, The Menagerie, and the Boltians and Kuirassian sourcebook). Looks like a lot of fun, and I'm already creating a universe in my head and on paper (combined with Starmada's combat system). ...

Some random things here: To get people in the mood for the 'Star Fleet Universe' who may not know much about it... http://starfleetgames.com/sfb/sfin/general_war.htm Also, I recently picked up the "Campaign Designer's Handbook" which was produced by ADB and has some interesting concepts in...

I may just take you guys up on that... Do these upcoming games have handouts or anything? My personal preference would probably be one that didn't include races from a 'known' universe, or at least not one that mixes them up.

This is cool news...

So of course, an immediate question.

Will the races be limited likely to the ones seen 'officially' so far in Federation Commander, or will ones that are part of the SFU but not officially integrated yet, also be included (Hydrans, Lyrans, ISC)?

Woohoo! Discovered via the joys of internet tracking that my copies of VBAM, CM, Menagerie and WotBaK are going to be here Friday instead of Monday like originally anticipated. Oh frabjulous day. It means I can have something new to look at this weekend.

I'm one of those people who has to have the hard copies, so I'll be waiting until they arrive at my doorstep before I get to play with all this stuff.

Ok, so I jumped. I'm not very good at self restraint. Both of the main rulebooks, "The Menagerie" and "The Wars of the Boltians and Kuissians". Probably one of the main reasons is reading the "To Boldly Go" PDF which gives a very nice feel and narrative. One question I ...

Some VBAM questions from a prospective purchaser...

I just ran across this set of space campaign rules on the Star Fleet Battles forums and became intrigued as much by the system in its own right as by the fact that there may be a Federation Commander linkage upcoming. I have a couple of questions before I dive in however (I have a shopping cart some...
