Re: Second Edition is Coming in the Year 3000

Because it shouldn't go without saying, you guys are awesome and you make an awesome product. But now that that's said, to expand a little on Darby's comment, the perpetual '2E is right around the corner' has had me holding off on starting a campaign with my friends for... 6 years? I love what your ...

Re: The Dilgar Invasion

Looks like the roster may be full, but if not I'd enjoy jumping in, even if it's on a front line, quickly-to-be "steamrolled" minor power.

Re: Realm Works Campaign Manager (Lone Wolf Development)

A little more on this, as I had some follow-up questions for the devs on features that would support hidden movement. Their response makes this even more attractive (I'm now backing): Tracking hidden movement for individual players should be readily doable once we add the per-player reveal logic. It...

Realm Works Campaign Manager (Lone Wolf Development)

Hey all, the same folks that brought us ArmyBuilder and HeroLab are about to release Realm Works, intended to be a product for GMs and players to manage an RPG campaign. I think it has a lot of potential for hosting CM'd VBAM campaigns, especially if the CM has a penchant for story telling. The app ...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Does ACtA have its own campaign system? Or am I thinking of something else? B5:ACtA has linked scenarios rules (somewhat expanded in the Powers and Principalities supplement) and Mongoose published a few mini-campaigns in it's free newsletter. You might be thinking of The D6G's X-Cam system which w...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Just saw the ADB/Mongoose collaboration annoucement for SFB:ACTA on TGN. My first reaction was: what a great synergy with VBAM:FA! Continuing to hope that this comes together! ADB seems to be taking on a lot these days and I am intrigued by their strategy to publish multiple tactical and strategic r...

Re: Siming hyperdrives and other non nodal movement FTLs

#2) Questions to better understand your paradigm.. 1) are ships in transit detectable 2) does distance have any thing to do with FTL travel time.. a) if not is it instantaneous, or b) take some fixed time 3) does non-FTL travel time exists (or is in-system travel instantaneous) a) if not is it inst...

Re: Siming hyperdrives and other non nodal movement FTLs

1. I'm not much more than a casual Trekkie (by default of being a scifi fan and it being sci fi, really), so maybe this will seem like a dumb question, BUT: I know that ST warp speed is not instantaneous, but it is FTL. Being that it is FTL, how would a destination force have any indication of an in...

Re: Siming hyperdrives and other non nodal movement FTLs

Thanks all. 1. In the end, I opted to set the campaign in SW's Unknown Space, where a canon phemonenon called "The Tangle" limits hyperspace travel to short jumps along paths defined by hyperspace beacons--i.e., VBAM as we know it. 2. I look forward to seeing how this was handled in Federa...

Re: Pricing Mercenaries?

Tyrel/Emiricol,

Thanks again for this. I am putting the finishing touches on a Star Wars campaign setting that will use a version of Tyrel's rule for the Lugubraa NPC faction, a mercenary faction widely available in the Unknown Regions where the campaign is set.

Cheers,

Josh

Tyrel,

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for never saying so before. My Revelation Space conversion is on the shelf for the moment, but when I get it back off, I will definitely use this.

Thanks,

Josh

Re: Using VBAM for an Honorverse-type Setting

1. ME TOO, PLEASE: Whatever your final result, I'd love to get a copy. Honorverse for VBAM is something I've wanted to 'eventually' get to for a long time now and it would be great not to have to re-create the wheel. 2. SCALE: I'm not sure if you've already rejected this approach to "large numb...

Thanks, but what I really am looking for is input on correctly pricing to keep game balance. The fluff side comes easily to me, but I hesitate to implement unplaytested rules for fear of giving my hesitant players a bad first experience.
