Re: Steel Castles sourcebook in the yards!

Had a long layoff due to life with a special needs kid, but I have finally gotten started on the Germans. Here's a comparison: Nassau Dreadnought DV 17 AS 14 AF 5 CR 7 CC 3 Dreadnought Dreadnought DV 16 AS 10 AF 2 CR 7 CC 3 Germany's response to the Dreadnought clearly ups the stakes. It wouldn't be...

Re: Fools Rush In

If only the Attarns hadn't been so flaky, they could've been that ally.

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Clearly, we were supposed to just hand back Federation & Empire: The Exact Same Product Only Slightly Different edition.

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

The VBAM stats were derived from the Federation Commander ship cards available at the time (8+ years ago) and the scenarios were derived from F&E material, so I'm curious how we could possibly have deviated. If we did, since I did both the conversion and the scenario write-ups, it's all on me. 8)

Re: Steel Castles sourcebook in the yards!

Interesting notion, and if I weren't trying to "Standard VBAM" I might be inclined to pursue it further, but I'm definitely going to be tweaking the light cruisers to make them more effective against destroyers (by allowing use of their primaries against them) as is appropriate.

Re: Steel Castles sourcebook in the yards!

I think I know what I want to do, I just need to test it out. Assuming it works as I think it will, I'll be able to move forward promptly from that test. :)

Re: Steel Castles sourcebook in the yards!

Oh yeah, I've read both. Where do you think "Steel Castles" came from? Dreadnought is exactly why Jackie Fisher is my avatar, as well as my interest in this period of naval history. I need to move on to the rest of the fleets, but I haven't had time to resolve the torpedo question y...

Yeah, the 10 years, or so, of VBAM 1E development and feedback from players was simply not enough.

Re: Steel Castles sourcebook in the yards!

Finished converting the rest of British fleet (not counting auxiliaries.) In spite of all the different classes of destroyers built, at this scale they stat out into 3 slight variations of each other that basically equate to pre-war, early war, and late war designs. That will simplify that immensely...

Re: Federation Admiral Public Update

Which is why when I gaze upon my rather sizeable collection of F&E material I see a toolkit to someday do a proper Trek-ian wargame. :)
