Re: Independent Transport Convoys (ITCs)

Correct.

These are strictly independent carriers with no existing contracts with military or government entities. They provide a capacity strapped empire short term options at a cost until additional convoys can be built.

Piracy, Intel and Underworld activity might be higher with independents.

Independent Transport Convoys (ITCs)

So you want to be a Supply Chain Manager eh? Funny thing about civilian freight carriers is they like to make money and will manipulate the market and capacity to do so. This optional rule is based on my real life experience working with my SCM responsible for freight between US, Mexico and China. B...

Re: Construction Destruction (Shipyards, Convoys, Repairs)

That answers my question pretty clearly regarding how the repair logistics/capacity is handled. What if my fleet is cut-off from supply but I have Military Supply Ships? Maybe I missed that answer.
Thanks.

Re: Construction Destruction (Shipyards, Convoys, Repairs)

I was rereading this post topic and have a question. If military supply ships and supply depots can make field repairs shouldn't they burn up a lot more supplies? This would force some decisions on the fleet commander depending on the supply situation, current operations and distance from a ship.yard.

Re: System Setup Variation

I tried out each of the system generation methods and preferred using the less detailed one. The description of each system type (major, minor, unimportant) sufficiently describes what's there and can be modified with a few more dice rolls. The special traits tables can be more descriptive if wanted...

Re: System Setup Variation

I was messing about with some of the proposed changes being discussed in VBAM Galaxies and came up with the attached system generation tables for my solo exploration campaign. Mostly its my attempt to link star type and system type to output (Biosphere/Special Traits). I would love to generate syste...

Re: Jump Lanes & Movement

Another possible alternative for Major Jump Lanes between unlimited and one additional move options is to allow one extra Major Jump move for each speed category.

Slow - 1 Extra Jump if all movement transits on Major Jump Lanes.
Normal - 2 Extra Jumps
Fast - 3 Extra Jumps.

Cheers.

Re: Extended Construction Times

Probably alone on this but my construction times are comparable to today's current naval build times of 1-3 years depending on vessel size in my campaign.

Re: Intelligence Rules

Another thought is that Intelligence purchased in a friendly system represents the domestic assets and each Intelligence point purchased in another empire represents the network assets used to conduct espionage in that system. Missions could be performed further into the other empire using the (less...

Intelligence Rules

Tyrel, I was reading through the items you are considering as optional or revised rules, specifically Intelligence. I recently struggled with implementation of this rule and tried different approaches to the issue and found myself wanting to split my Intelligence resources into offensive and defensi...

Re: House Rule - Exploration Variant

I did a lot of back and forth on how I wanted to replicate the unknown in solitaire play and went with a more streamlined version that put some kinks in my perfect plan without trying to back-track discovery results. (1) Deleted the Jump Path Concept and defaulting to the standard sector movement ru...

Random Event Table

The attached is the Random Events table I will be using for my Hostiles Inbound campaign. I did an update this afternoon hope to implement it soon. My campaign uses a modified turn similar to Space Empires 4X where a Campaign is six-months broken down into three (two-month) movement phases and the R...

Re: Single Squadron Task Forces

Appreciate the response. I am not a fan of huge space battles in games or movies so limiting the quantity of ships in a force doesn't bother me much. To me smaller ships such as frigates and destroyers are given defined individual missions and should have next to no command ability, whereas cruisers...

Re: Single Squadron Task Forces

I like the Single Squadron Task Force concept better than the current rules as written. But... So take the following comments as light-hearted based on 40+ years of gaming which doesn't make me smarter, wiser or whatever than anybody else, just means I have read A LOT of rules. I am still fairly new...
