This sounds like a pretty good idea to simplify things. To clarify, though: A player's initial units would be 5-6 'Universal' units plus 1-2 'TL+1' units, right? These look great! My only question behind them at the moment is what the theory behind the GB class is. This is fantastic to hear! I'll keep my eye out and will totally be up for a playtest PBEM.

Did the new version that's in playtest keep with the changes we've been mocking up in the system generation process to allow for fewer and simpler planet classes?

Either 2E or Galaxies might help with an Honorverse setting, since the economic system is much 'smoother' in both. I found it much less hassle to track income vs maintenance, for example.
