I really like this option as well. I tend to view the game as Aelius does, again most likely because I played F&E in the past. I really like the single squadron option for combat with still having a variable CC based on size that would need me to spend more CR to issue orders to that unit.

I agree that of all the proposed additions to the game, a more detailed ground combat is the least exciting for me. I feel that the current form is more than adequate. If you control the orbitals, how much organized resistance is really viable? Iron bars and rocks from space can devastate formal org...

Well, if it looks like the 2e Companion will be coming out next. I vote for updated Sector movement rules and exploration rules for such. Just be sure I am reading the rules correct, if my campaign is using 4.1 Wartime Economies, when at peace only the 3.1.1 System Income is set at 50% not for instance 3.1.2 Commerce Income. Commerce Income would still be 50% of the Utilized Productivity for each system with an insupply trade fleet?

I'm thinking of using the same formula but rather than divide by 24 I'll try 6. And, since INT-1 starts at TL 6 that'll be the base like ISD 3000.

( 6 - TL ) / 6 * Construction Cost, round = extra CP for starships

It takes a lot longer to advance a tech level. Over one hundred turns you would have over 8 years go by but you might only advance two maybe three tech levels.
